A machine hailed as a “Precision Surgery Expert” has been introduced
AI Intelligent Microwave Ablation Robot
at the People’s Hospital of Zheng’an County
bringing good news to patients in the county and surrounding areas
Recently, the lung cancer screening project supported by the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone was officially launched, and the advanced navigation microwave ablation system was put into use simultaneously, marking a new phase of “precise screening + intelligent minimally invasive treatment” in lung cancer diagnosis and treatment in Zheng’an County.
The AI intelligent navigation microwave ablation system introduced this time integrates advanced functions such as three-dimensional image analysis, optical navigation, and multi-axis robotic arm-assisted puncture, achieving sub-millimeter positioning accuracy and dynamic respiratory tracking capabilities. This system can accurately puncture and ablate small lung nodules (diameter < 1cm) with a puncture accuracy rate of over 95%, effectively addressing the high dependence on physician experience and the difficulty in locating small lesions associated with traditional manual punctures, significantly shortening surgery time and reducing the risk of complications, providing better options for patients with early lung cancer, lung nodules, and those intolerant to conventional surgery.
“I felt almost nothing during the surgery, and I was able to get out of bed the next day after the operation.” 52-year-old Mr. Zheng was the first patient in the county to undergo AI intelligent microwave ablation surgery. A screening for early lung cancer revealed an 8mm ground-glass nodule in his right lung, and the newly introduced AI microwave ablation system completed the precise ablation treatment in just 20 minutes.
The lung cancer screening and early diagnosis and treatment public welfare project launched this time will rely on the East-West cooperation mechanism, leveraging the comprehensive support of relevant medical institutions in Guangdong Province and Zhuhai City in terms of technical training, remote consultations, and expert guidance, to build an integrated lung cancer prevention and treatment service system of “screening-diagnosis-treatment-management”, effectively improving the early diagnosis rate of lung cancer and the treatment rate within the county, alleviating the burden of seeking medical treatment outside the county, and reducing the risk of “poverty due to illness and returning to poverty due to illness”.
