As of the first half of this year, cumulative shipments have exceeded 2 billion units. As a leading company in the domestic general-purpose MCU sector, GigaDevice has never stopped its pace, continuously exploring more diverse applications and striving to reach new heights in product quality.
At the 2025 Electronics Enthusiasts Motor Control Advanced Technology Seminar, Chen Shumin from GigaDevice’s MCU marketing department delivered a keynote speech titled “Unlocking Motor Potential: The High-Performance Driving Path of GD32 MCU,” systematically sharing GigaDevice’s innovative achievements and cutting-edge layouts in the field of motor drive technology and applications.
Solution Matrix for Diverse Fields
As an indispensable core component of various electronic and electrical devices, the development space of motors is largely determined by MCU-centric motor control solutions. Chen Shumin stated that GigaDevice has tailored a series of highly adaptable and high-performance motor control solutions to meet the differentiated needs of various fields such as industrial, home appliances, consumer electronics, and emerging markets, comprehensively covering motor drive and control requirements in multiple scenarios.

Servo motors are widely used in the industrial sector.GigaDevice’s dual servo motor solution uses the high-performance GD32F4 with an ARM® Cortex®-M4 core as the main control chip, with a maximum frequency of 240MHz, achieving dual servo motor control with high integration and low cost. This solution can achieve FOC (Field Oriented Control) based on 14-bit precision magnetic encoder positioning and employs three closed-loop controls: position loop, speed loop, and current loop, supporting dual-resistor and three-resistor current sampling methods.
The EtherCAT® servo slave solution is an important offering from GigaDevice in the industrial sector. This solution uses the GD32H75E, which integrates a 600MHz ARM® Cortex®-M7 and ESC controller, optimizing both servo control performance and BOM costs. Its servo drive adopts the standard CiA 402 protocol for real-time control via TwinCAT®, providing a plug-and-play solution. The solution features proprietary enhanced algorithms that allow for trapezoidal curve planning in position profile mode (PP). Additionally, based on the internal HPDF module of the chip, the solution can achieve high-precision in-line current sampling at a low cost.

In the home appliance sector, GigaDevice’s solutions also demonstrate excellent characteristics. In the dual-in-one air conditioning outdoor unit solution, GigaDevice uses the GD32F30x series as the main control chip, specifically designed for dual motors and PFC single-chip applications in outdoor units. To ensure the reliability of home appliance equipment, it also incorporates safety features such as FLASH/SRAM ECC. Additionally, the solution integrates GigaDevice’s proprietary outdoor unit algorithms, including compressor single-cycle closed-loop startup and fan zero-speed closed-loop startup. In the washing machine solution, GigaDevice employs the GD32F330 series with an 84MHz Cortex®-M4 core as the main control chip, featuring mature vector control algorithms, a dual closed-loop control system for speed and current, and supporting various vector control strategies such as weak magnetic control and id=0 control, enabling sensorless control with a sliding mode observer.
In the floor cleaning machine sector, GigaDevice has launched a dual-chip integrated solution with GD32F5 and GD32VW553:GD32F5 leverages rich on-chip resources to handle various motor controls (including brushless motors, brushed motors, servos, and speed wheels) and LCD serial screen driving tasks; GD32VW553 focuses on wireless communication control, supporting Bluetooth pairing via WeChat mini-programs and device pairing through Alibaba Cloud’s “Cloud Intelligence” in SoftAP mode, while also demonstrating motor start-stop operations.

For the sweeping machine solution, a complete hardware system is built around the main unit and base station, meeting complex cleaning requirements through multi-module collaboration. The core board of the main unit selects GD32F30x/F503 as the MCU, paired with DDR3L/DDR4 memory, GD5F series NAND Flash, and GD25Q series NOR Flash, fully satisfying core computing and data storage needs; The drive board and power board are paired with GD30AP series operational amplifiers, GD30LD series LDOs, etc., ensuring stable operation of the entire machine. The inertial navigation module is equipped with GD32E23x series MCUs, while laser or ToF modules are compatible with GD32F310, GD32W515, GD32C231, and other series chips; the base station uses GD32F303/F503 as the core, with screen-equipped base stations corresponding to NAND Flash, and water pump base stations adopting GD30DR300x series single-channel full-bridge drivers, while integrating GD32VW553 series Wi-Fi modules for wireless interconnection.
In addition, in the tools sector, the lithium battery drill solution uses the GD32F310 series with a Cortex®-M4 core as the main control unit, achieving excellent control performance with minimal peripheral components, and has already entered mass production with leading garden tool customers.
In response to this year’s industry hotspots of civil low-altitude flight and humanoid robots, GigaDevice has also introduced corresponding solutions. For the flight control module of civil aircraft, the high-performance GD32F4 with an ARM® Cortex®-M4 core, with a maximum frequency of 240MHz, supports the Betaflight open-source platform, while the electronic speed control module uses the cost-effective GD32C2x1/GD32E23x series (Cortex®-M23 core), compatible with AM32 open-source software and GigaDevice’s self-developed electronic speed control firmware.

For humanoid robots, GigaDevice provides a full-scenario solution. In the dexterous hand section, multi-motor control can be achieved through GD32E513/GD32G553 using a single MCU, or the integrated EtherCAT® GD32H75E solution can complete hand posture algorithms, action coordination, and communication interconnection; the radar control section is assisted by GD32F303 series with FPGA for perception functions, while GD32F470 series provides computational support for radar algorithms; the joints of the arms/legs can be constructed using GD32E513/GD32G553/GD32H7 and GDSCN832 for high-performance, compact, multi-motor control solutions.
