‘Voice of Safety, Resonating in Hearts’
Laboratory Safety Speech Competition Successfully Concluded
To strengthen laboratory safety awareness and build a solid safety defense line for research and teaching, on November 19 at 2:30 PM, the IoT and Communication College held the ‘Voice of Safety, Resonating in Hearts’ laboratory safety speech competition in classroom 5603.
At the ‘Voice of Safety, Resonating in Hearts’ laboratory safety speech competition, the participants’ presentations hit the nail on the head: from the case of the Stuxnet virus concerning network and data security to various environmental risks such as hazardous chemical leaks and direct emissions of waste gas, each tangible safety hazard was dissected and warned against. When the speakers transformed the potential risks in the laboratory into real and perceptible scenarios, ‘safety’ was no longer just a paper clause, but a responsibility embedded in every operation and detail.
On stage, the participants grounded laboratory safety in details: from the ‘daily guardianship’ of regular equipment maintenance and temperature and humidity control to the welding hazard case of ‘one cup of water ruining a two-week project’, they vividly conveyed the warning that ‘small oversights can lead to big risks’. The focused attention from the audience indicated that safety awareness was slowly taking root in the hearts of every experimenter.
Next to their self-made PPTs, some participants used the welding hazard case of ‘one cup of water ruining a two-week project’ to awaken everyone present: neglecting protection and improperly placing items can lead to the loss of experimental results in an instant. The quiet gaze from the audience was a reminder that ‘safety is no small matter’ must be ingrained in every experimental operation’s anticipation.
In the bright conference room, the participants stood at the podium, sharing safety details, while the audience’s gaze was fixed on this ‘voice of safety’. From equipment maintenance to case warnings, each sharing tightened the string of laboratory safety in everyone’s heart. Whether it was the details of equipment maintenance, the risks of network attacks, or the key points of hazardous chemical management, all were transformed through the speeches into actionable guidelines, filling the gap between ‘regulatory clauses’ and ‘actual operations’.
The successful holding of the ‘Voice of Safety, Resonating in Hearts’ laboratory safety speech competition is not the end of safety education, but a new starting point for the college to strengthen the laboratory safety defense line. The IoT and Communication College will take this competition as an opportunity to continuously deepen safety culture construction, promote regular safety knowledge training, hazard identification, and make ‘safety first’ a habit for every teacher and student, ensuring solid safety guarantees for the high-quality development of teaching and research.
