Voices from the Party Branch | Focused Theoretical Study on ‘Chips’ from TSMC to NVIDIA
On November 23, 2025, the first Party branch of the Department of Physics conducted a focused theoretical study, with the publicity group sharing insights on the theme of ‘chips’.
Student Hu Qiu from the publicity group provided a basic overview of the chip industry, covering the main products, development history, and manufacturing processes. Following this, a detailed introduction to the domestic chip industry was presented, focusing on industry scale, structure, packaging and testing, core challenges and gaps, as well as domestic policy support.
Student Pu Yanxi provided a detailed explanation of TSMC, the world’s largest chip manufacturing company, showcasing its technological research and development, mass production capabilities, and talent advantages. She also elaborated on TSMC’s global layout and geopolitical considerations in response to new challenges in recent years, emphasizing its irreplaceable role and the profound impact its future development will have on the global technology and economic landscape.
Student Liu Zonghao focused on NVIDIA, introducing its core business, the U.S. government’s restrictions on the ‘high-end AI chip’ market and their implications, as well as NVIDIA’s specific measures and market strategies amidst antitrust investigations and trade restrictions.
After this study session, the comrades gained a clearer understanding of the history and current state of the chip industry, as well as a deeper appreciation for the necessity and importance of technological self-reliance and strength.
