Recently, the rumors about Sony cameras have become increasingly wild, but they are all reported by some previously reputable foreign media, so it’s up to everyone to decide whether to believe them.
Foreign media PR has obtained internal materials regarding the Sony FX8.
The materials indicate:
The Sony FX8 will be slightly smaller than the FX9 and positioned at a lower tier.
However, it will debut a new full-frame CMOS from Sony Semiconductor: a 96 million pixel sensor with 3 native ISOs (ISO settings: 500, 2000, and 8000, but it seems that this “three native” refers to dual native ISOs plus an “optimized” ISO setting).
The Sony FX8 supports full-frame/S35 format 8K 30p and 4K 60p recording, and supports 1.04x crop 16:9 4K 120p recording.

This CMOS has a 3:2 aspect ratio, so the effective pixel count for standard 16:9 video shooting is 81 million pixels.
It is still uncertain whether this CMOS will feature half-stacked or stacked technology, but it is confirmed to be a high-speed readout sensor.
Internally, Sony has high expectations for this CMOS, planning to downstream it to the Alpha camera series after its debut with the FX8, with some rumors suggesting it will be down-streamed to the long-unupdated Sony A7S series.
However, generally speaking, high pixel CMOS recording video can lead to issues with noise control and increased processor load, so it remains to be seen how Sony will address this problem.
