When smart homes encounter the bottleneck of physical interaction— the maintenance costs arising from the three-year replacement cycle of traditional contact sensors, and the security risks caused by a 0.5-second response delay, are becoming invisible barriers to industry upgrades.
KONTEX’s magnetic sensing solutions revolutionize interaction modes through non-contact detection, turning every opening and closing of doors and windows into precise data language.
Advantages of magnetic sensor chips in
smart homes
Magnetic sensor chips convert the magnetic field changes caused by the displacement of doors and windows into mV-level electrical signals through the Hall effect/anomalous magnetoresistance effect. Compared to traditional mechanical switches, they have three inherent advantages:
(1) Non-contact detection: 100,000 openings and closings with zero wear
(2) Sub-millimeter precision: can identify a 0.1mm micro-opening state
(3) Ultra-low power consumption: powered by a button battery, achieving 5 years of battery life (compliant with the new IEEE1858-2024 standard)

Central security in space — KTH57 series precise angle detection
The whole-house smart 4.0 system uses an array of magnetic sensing nodes to achieve:
✓ Monitoring door and window opening angles within ±1° (child climbing prevention warning)
✓ Vibration mode recognition (distinguishing between strong wind shaking and window break-in)
✓ Linking with millimeter-wave radar to form a dual verification mechanism (false alarm rate reduced by 87%)
KONTEX’s KTH57 series is a digital output 3D Hall chip, which integrates three independent Hall sensors for the X, Y, and Z axes. The signal chain uses a high-precision operational amplifier to convert the analog signal into a digital output via a 16-bit ADC. The external host can read the measurement data using either SPI or I2C modes.

Supports various working modes such as continuous sensing mode, wake-up sleep mode, and single measurement mode. When the opening angle of doors and windows exceeds the threshold, it will automatically send out alarm information.
Core for elderly-friendly renovations — KTH57 series anti-pinch safety warning, KTM13 series water level detection
Safety warning system for smart toilet lids:
✓ Magnetic sensors monitor the lid’s descent speed (anti-pinch response < 0.2 seconds)
✓ Water tank water level magnetic detection (failure rate reduced by 64% compared to traditional float structures)
The signal chain of KONTEX’s KTH57 series uses a high-precision operational amplifier to convert the analog signal into a digital output via a 16-bit ADC. The working frequency is greater than 1 kHz (1,000 detections per second), and if the toilet lid descends too quickly, the chip will issue a warning within 0.001 seconds.
Additionally, an internal temperature sensor is integrated into the chip for temperature compensation of the magnetic field, making the detection results more accurate (false alarm rate reduced by 90%). KONTEX’s KTM13 series is a full-pole magnetic field detection switch that can provide full-pole magnetic response with very low current consumption. It detects the magnetic field parallel to the surface of the chip package; when the magnetic field strength exceeds the operating point (BOP), the switch outputs a low level; when the magnetic field strength is below the release point (BRP), the switch outputs a high level. When the water level exceeds the warning line, the chip will issue an alarm.
