Integration of Two Industries: Protective Covers Keep Underground Sensors Dust-Free

The underground environment is complex, and during the use of dust sensors, they are affected by dust from the working face, mechanical pressure, and spraying. The bolts on the cover are prone to dust accumulation and rust, which severely impacts the maintenance and lifespan of the sensors.

The engineering team has designed a protective cover made of thin iron sheets that provides good sealing based on the size of the dust sensor’s cover. The cover is ensured to fit tightly against the sensor’s housing, and it is fixed to the top cover of the dust sensor using the sensor’s suspension bolts, protecting the sensor from dust and water. This extends the usage cycle of the dust sensor by 50%, saving over 50,000 yuan in material costs annually.

Monitoring team leader Hou Yiqiang stated, “Since the protective cover was installed on the dust sensor, it looks aesthetically pleasing and is easy to clean. It fundamentally solves the major issue of rusted bolts on the top cover that cannot be opened during maintenance, saving both maintenance time and extending the sensor’s lifespan, while also saving material costs and ensuring the stability of the dust sensor. This is truly a win-win situation.”
