[China, Shanghai, September 18, 2025] During the opening speech at Huawei’s Connect 2025 conference, Huawei partner Zhejiang Zhier presented the topic “Zero-Roaming Wi-Fi 7 Network Solution: Building the Foundation for IoT Integration in Smart Hospitals,” providing an in-depth interpretation of the zero-roaming Wi-Fi 7 network solution jointly developed by Huawei and Zhejiang Zhier. This solution, leveraging innovative IoT AU integration capabilities, achieves room-level precise positioning, establishing a high-quality network foundation of “zero roaming + IoT integration” for the construction of smart hospitals.

As the digital transformation of the healthcare industry accelerates, the demands for networks in smart hospitals are becoming increasingly stringent. Traditional networks often experience roaming packet loss when facing critical business scenarios in mobile healthcare, and the various “siloed” network constructions are not only costly but also fail to meet the growing demands of IoT applications. Against this backdrop, Huawei’s independently developed zero-roaming Wi-Fi 7 network solution has emerged, specifically designed to address the complex needs of the healthcare industry with an innovative wireless solution.
The core components of Huawei’s zero-roaming Wi-Fi 7 network solution include zero-roaming APs and zero-roaming antenna units (AU). Through innovative antenna entry and zero-roaming technology, a single zero-roaming AP can achieve wireless continuous coverage for up to 8 rooms and can be infinitely expanded, thus creating a high-quality wireless network with broad coverage, zero roaming, physical isolation of three networks, room-level positioning, and high bandwidth. For example, in a large tertiary hospital, before deploying Huawei’s zero-roaming Wi-Fi 7 network solution, medical staff frequently experienced device packet loss and disconnections during mobile ward rounds, severely impacting work efficiency. After deployment, mobile ward round PDA data transmission achieved zero interruptions, allowing for instant access to high-definition images such as CT and MR scans, winning valuable time for patient treatment.
The design of the zero-roaming AP is unique, featuring built-in dual PCIe card slots and USB ports, which not only support PoE out for IoT expansion but also are compatible with multi-vendor IoT ecosystems, making IoT deployment more flexible and free. In smart hospitals, this feature provides strong support for achieving fully unattended patient rooms across all scenarios. With the help of IoT sensing technology, hospitals can easily implement medical IoT applications such as infusion monitoring, personnel positioning, asset management, and equipment energy efficiency management. Relying on this solution, hospitals can build research-oriented data collection systems that integrate multidimensional data from patients, devices, environments, personnel locations, and drug samples, providing comprehensive data support for health monitoring, medical research support, patient service management, research equipment management, and drug sample management.
The collaboration between Zhejiang Zhier and Huawei combines Huawei’s advanced network technology with Zhejiang Zhier’s rich experience in the healthcare industry. In the future, both parties plan to further optimize this solution and explore applications in more complex medical scenarios, continuously driving the construction of smart hospital networks to new heights and injecting strong momentum into the digital transformation of the healthcare industry.
