Europe’s First HBM Memory Data Center Inference Processor VSORA Jotunn8 Tape-Out

On November 24, news broke that GUC, an ASIC design service company in which TSMC has a stake, announced today that its participation in the Jotunn8 has successfully completed tape-out on schedule, making this chip from VSORA the first data center inference processor in Europe equipped with HBM memory.

VSORA Jotunn8 is designed for AI inference workloads, breaking through the memory wall bottleneck with innovative architecture to achieve ultra-low latency and extremely high throughput. Based on TSMC’s 5nm advanced process and CoWoS advanced packaging, it can achieve a computing power of up to 3200 TFLOPS (dense) at FP8 precision, equipped with 288GB HBM3E memory, consuming only half the power of market-leading chips.

GUC provides comprehensive design services for Jotunn8 , taking full responsibility for all processes from netlist-in to wafer manufacturing and mass production. This solution also integrates GUC’s 17.2 Gbps GLink-2.5D D2D interconnect IP, 8.4 Gbps HBM3E PHY and controller.

VSORA aims to launch the development board, reference design, and server solutions for Jotunn8 in early 2026.
