Discussion in the Boto Group: Many Engineers Have Experienced ‘PLC Theft’!

“The Journey of an Excellent Engineer in Three Stages”

1. Basic Stage: Boto PLC Technology.

2. Intermediate Stage: Boto and C# Advanced Language Technology.

3. Advanced Stage: Standardized Programming Methods for PLCs.

The Path of Standardization!

Discussion in the Boto Group: Many Engineers Have Experienced 'PLC Theft'!

A group member shared a picture of his stolen PLC in the group. I forwarded it to 15 “Boto Friends” groups to see everyone’s feedback.

1. Discussion in the Boto Group

Stolen Group Member: A module on the project was stolen, unheard of!!!

Discussion in the Boto Group: Many Engineers Have Experienced 'PLC Theft'!

Group Member: Quite normal.

Group Member: Why steal an IO module and not the CPU?

Group Member: They didn’t even take the IM155 station head, what a shame!

Group Member: If they didn’t cut the wires and took the base too, that would be a great virtue.

Group Member: Our company had three CPUs stolen from a construction project.

Group Member: The encryption dongle for our visual software was also stolen, what can we do? We can’t keep an eye on everything, the on-site personnel are constantly changing, with people from multiple manufacturers coming and going.

Group Member: No one takes CPUs from the factory.

Group Member: Lock the electrical cabinet.

Group Member: 315KW Siemens frequency converter!

Discussion in the Boto Group: Many Engineers Have Experienced 'PLC Theft'!

Group Member: Normal, haha! We were supposed to debug the robot the next day, and the night before, more than a dozen teaching devices went missing.

Group Member: Previously encountered a set of redundant CPUs from AB being stolen, and the police couldn’t find them.

Group Member: I have encountered this too, on a new project, all 11 control cabinets’ 1200 modules were taken, and that guy was quite kind, leaving the terminal blocks on top without cutting the wires directly.

Group Member: Definitely taken by someone knowledgeable, they know how to disassemble. Nothing else was taken.

Group Member: Mainly because Siemens modules are quite expensive!

Group Member: Previously, we had 5 AC801s stolen overseas when we were building a new factory, and the vendor’s items were not stored, just left in an unguarded room.

Group Member: Last time, a 1517, damn it, the electrical manager didn’t dare to keep it, asked me to store it, at least 25,000.

Group Member: We encountered this situation too, our PLC was stolen. At that time, multiple suppliers were working on-site simultaneously.

Group Member: We previously lost a 1513 on a project, and another one almost went missing too.

Discussion in the Boto Group: Many Engineers Have Experienced 'PLC Theft'!

Group Member: Last year, we lost an AB CPU, and this year, a 1515, reported to the police but couldn’t recover it.

Group Member: Some installation personnel understand the value of these items; we encountered a situation where station modules were stolen on a subway project, also ET200SP.

Group Member: They know what to steal, the valuable items, because they can be resold. Then when we went to debug, we found something was missing, and the owner was anxious to buy stock, because this circle is not big, and when we inquired about the stock on the market, we ended up buying what was stolen, because we had the serial numbers when we procured! So we reported to the police, and immediately found the source.

Group Member: Previously, on a project in Yancheng, dozens of Keyence embedded flow meters were stolen, worth hundreds of thousands, and it was later found that they had insiders colluding with them, even sending the security guards in.

Group Member: Last year, on a water treatment project, we lost a 1511.

Group Member: In our recent project, the client’s site is still a construction site, and several suppliers have been stolen from three times in a row.

Group Member: Last year, lost a 1516, this year lost two 1511s.
