





Provincial Project Approved! Dr. Sun Hengyi Leads AIOT Team Project Approved by Provincial Education Evaluation Association

Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Education Evaluation Association officially released the list of approved projects for the 2025 annual topics. The project titled “Three Repositories and One Platform” Driven Three-Level Empowerment AIOT Application Innovation Team, led by Dr. Sun Hengyi and a team of teachers and students, has been successfully approved. This project is based on the development wave of the AIOT (Artificial Intelligence + Internet of Things) industry, closely aligned with Guangdong Province’s educational policy of “deepening the integration of industry and education,” with the core goal of “resource aggregation + talent incubation.” It has become another provincial benchmark achievement for the center in deepening the integration of scientific research and education in fields such as low-altitude economy and smart vehicle networking.

In today’s digital economy, the integration technology of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (AIOT) is thriving and widely applied in fields such as smart cities, intelligent manufacturing, and smart agriculture. However, there is still a disconnect between talent cultivation in universities and the actual needs of the industry: companies urgently need AIOT interdisciplinary talents, but traditional teaching cases and research topics in universities often do not match the cutting-edge demands of the industry, leading to blind resource connections. Therefore, exploring a new mechanism for efficient sharing of resources between schools and enterprises to cultivate AIOT application innovation talents capable of solving practical problems is of great significance.
This project is based on the concept of “Three Repositories and One Platform”, which has significant value in both academic and application aspects. Academically, it constructs a resource-sharing mechanism of enterprise demand repository, course case repository, and research project repository with an intelligent matching platform, achieving an innovative talent cultivation model that closes the loop of teaching, competition, and research empowerment. This model is expected to form a replicable paradigm for the integration of industry and education, enhancing the quality of applied talent cultivation in universities. The project will enrich the theoretical framework of new engineering education and improve the talent cultivation system for industry-university-research cooperation, holding high academic value. In application, the project is oriented towards actual industrial problems, relying on the teacher-student project team to develop AIOT innovative products and systems, promoting the transformation of technological achievements, and focusing on solving pain points such as poor device interconnectivity and low real-time monitoring accuracy in the traditional Internet of Things field. The AIOT systems such as smart lighting control and environmental monitoring expected to be developed by the project will be applied in real enterprise scenarios, enhancing the level of industrial intelligence and serving regional technological innovation development. From the perspective of talent cultivation, the project will significantly enhance students’ practical innovation capabilities, providing high-quality innovative talents for the AIOT industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with significant educational and social application value.


The approval of this project is the result of collaborative efforts between teachers and students at the center. From the project selection stage, Dr. Sun Hengyi led the team to conduct in-depth research in multiple AIOT-related enterprises in Dongguan, sorting out the “technology demand list” and “talent capability model.” During the proposal design stage, Associate Professor Yu Liang and Teacher Cui Kangji provided support from the perspective of technical feasibility, while several student leaders participated in literature sorting and case organization. In the final sprint stage for the application, the teacher-student team optimized the application materials for two consecutive weeks, repeatedly refining the logical structure and implementation details of the “Three Repositories and One Platform,” ultimately standing out with its advantages of “precise positioning and strong practicality.”
This “teacher-led, student-participated, enterprise-collaborated” project tackling model is a vivid practice of the center’s “research-driven education” philosophy, ensuring that the project is rooted in the industry and closely aligned with educational realities from the very beginning.
Next, Dr. Sun Hengyi’s team will advance the implementation according to the project plan: completing the first phase of construction and testing of the “Three Repositories and One Platform,” jointly developing AIOT characteristic course modules with partner enterprises; initiating the first batch of student empowerment training and project incubation, striving to form a replicable case of industry-education integration, providing a reference sample for similar universities in Guangdong Province for “AIOT innovation team cultivation.”
“The project approval is just the starting point; we hope to make the ‘Three Repositories and One Platform’ model an important part of the center’s service to the AIOT industry in the Greater Bay Area through practice,” said Dr. Sun Hengyi. In the future, the center will continue to deepen collaboration with enterprises, ensuring that the project results are truly transformed into the quality of talent cultivation and industrial service capabilities.
