Recently, nano banana has gone viral on all social media platforms. I immediately tested it, and the results are indeed impressive. However, it defaults to generating a 1:1 ratio, and to create other ratios, you need to upload a reference image of the desired ratio. There is also a limit of 30,000 tokens, and since it is a foreign product, it is quite inconvenient for domestic users. Coincidentally, the new version 4.0 of Dream has just been released, and I thought that Doubao uses Dream’s model, so I decided to give it a try by modifying images on Doubao. Without further ado, let’s look at the test comparisons below.
1. Making Figurines
This is the most popular use recently, with several tens of thousands of likes on Douyin.

This is the prompt:
According to the 1/7 scale of the character in the illustration, create a commercial character model in a realistic style and environment. Place the character model on a computer desk, using a round transparent acrylic base without any text. On the computer screen, display the ZBrush modeling process of the character model. Next to the computer screen, place a toy packaging box in the style of BANDAl with the original image printed on it.
Doubao:
Let’s create a model of Qimei.
The result looks like this.
nano banana:

The texture seems to be a bit better.
2. Changing Poses
Prompt: Make the character in image one perform the action in image two.

Doubao:

The ground feels really cool~

3. Creating Game UI
Prompt 1:A screenshot from a fantasy RPG game, with the main character standing in the center holding a book and a torch. The environment is a richly detailed ancient temple ruin, with ancient stone pillars, vines, and stained glass windows intertwined, emitting a magical glow, accompanied by cinematic lighting effects. Includes RPG-style UI elements: character portrait in the corner, health and magic bars at the top, a mini-map in the bottom right corner, and dialogue text at the bottom saying “This must be the place…”. The game art is richly detailed, anime style, immersive atmosphere, and excellent image quality.
Prompt 2:A screenshot from a Galgame visual novel, set in a luxurious Rococo-style castle, with gorgeous decorations, chandeliers, golden details, elegant furniture, and soft colors harmonizing. In the foreground, a character stands in the center with anime-style illustrations and expressive facial features. Includes Galgame UI elements: an English dialogue box displaying the character’s name at the bottom, option menu buttons, and a clean interface design. Soft lighting, a romantic atmosphere, and high-quality visual novel-style art.
Still trying with Qimei,
Doubao:

This game interface looks like it would be a lot of fun~
nano banana:

You can see that nano banana can only generate according to the ratio of the reference image, while Doubao can choose any ratio they want. However, the clothing generated by nano banana is more suitable for the scene, but the Chinese text is a hard flaw; in terms of Chinese text, Doubao wins hands down.
4. Comic Storyboarding
Prompt: Generate a nine-panel comic based on the image content, telling a story through visuals and shots.
Let’s try with the two game interfaces just generated.
Doubao:

Seeing these images already allows me to imagine a series of stories; it’s a blessing for comic artists!
nano banana:

Both effects feel pretty good; in the future, I can create comics of any character I want!
Conclusion.
In summary, both have their pros and cons. Doubao has a stronger understanding of Chinese and is completely free with no restrictions, while nano banana excels in detail handling and naturalness. Which one do you think is better? Feel free to leave a comment!
