Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, recently made bold predictions about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics on future society during the “US-Saudi Investment Forum.” He believes that with the development of AI and humanoid robots, poverty will be eliminated, human wealth will significantly increase, and work will no longer be a necessary part of life, but rather a personal choice.

Musk stated that his prediction timeframe for the future is 10 to 20 years. “Work will become a choice, just like playing basketball or video games,” he explained, noting that work will no longer be a necessary condition for survival, but rather an activity driven by hobbies and interests.
Using “gardening” as an example, Musk said, “You can choose to buy vegetables from the store, or you can choose to grow them at home. Although growing vegetables in the backyard is more complex, some people still prefer to do it because they enjoy the process.” He further emphasized that future work will be like gardening, a personal choice rather than a necessity of life.
Musk also added that AI and robotics will truly break the wealth gap and may make money less important. He predicts that humanoid robots will become the largest industry in history, even surpassing the prevalence of smartphones. Tesla is currently developing a humanoid robot named Optimus, and more companies are expected to join this field, driving rapid development in this industry.
