Introduction: The Ducati Multistrada V4S is a versatile motorcycle with a comprehensive four-in-one design.
Ducati, known as the Ferrari of motorcycles, has always been at the forefront of motorcycle design and performance. With a wide range of models, it has paved the way for many motorcycle enthusiasts. As the ADV multi-purpose motorcycle trend has gained popularity in recent years, Ducati has introduced its own model to capture the market—the Multistrada V4S. At first glance, it appears to be a touring bike, but it effectively embodies four different scenarios, truly living up to its multi-talented title. Let’s explore this motorcycle together.

Ducati’s development of the Multistrada series is based on the 4-in-1 concept. What is 4-in-1? Literally, it means merging four motorcycles into one. More commonly, this series of motorcycles features four characteristics: “touring, rally, sport, and urban.” In other words, this motorcycle must provide comfortable riding for touring, exhilarating driving enjoyment for sports, and also be suitable for urban commuting, while ensuring endurance and reliability for long-distance rallying.

As a touring motorcycle, it is also the world’s first motorcycle equipped with the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) system. The Multistrada automatically adjusts its speed based on the distance to the vehicle ahead, keeping the entire bike within a safe range. It also includes the BSD (Blind Spot Detection) system, which alerts the rider with indicator lights on the side mirrors when a vehicle enters the blind spot, preventing potential accidents during lane changes. Both ACC and BSD are part of Ducati’s high-end motorcycle riding assistance radar system. In addition, the dynamic adjustment of electronic suspension, heated seats, and heated grips enhance the comfort of riding during long trips.

For rally performance, it uses a 17-inch rear wheel and a 19-inch front wheel to ensure off-road capability. This configuration is mainstream for current large ADV motorcycles, and the official support for optional tires is available. Of course, during rallying, the electronic skyhook suspension system provides strong road feedback, reducing bumps from uneven surfaces for the rider.

In terms of sport, the entire power system enters an aggressive burst mode once the riding mode is switched, allowing you to experience a continuous power output. With its lightweight handling performance and high freedom of riding posture, if you have certain skills, you can easily tackle sharp turns, providing a feeling that rivals some sports cars.

Although the seat height of the Multistrada V4S is between 810-830mm, its handling effectively offsets the disadvantages brought by the height, which is why many riders around 170cm can easily manage it. Furthermore, to further reduce rider fatigue, it employs a slope automatic start-stop system. Once the brake is held for a few seconds, the system will start and stop based on the IMU’s angle measurement, preventing rollbacks, and as soon as you throttle, it immediately outputs power.

At this point, some may say that Ducati’s 4-in-1 is just a common feature in other motorcycles. However, there are differences. The distinction lies in the fact that this motorcycle was designed from the outset with four aspects in mind. From hardware configuration to power performance and electronic control systems, everything is mutually compatible. Ducati spent three years developing this V4 engine. In contrast, other motorcycles often achieve riding mode selection more at the software level, which mainly adjusts the vehicle’s power output response and traction control strength, highlighting a significant difference.

Finally, as a multi-purpose motorcycle with a displacement of 1158cc and a water-cooled V4 engine, its configuration is considered top-tier within the Ducati lineup. With prices abroad reaching nearly $30,000, it has positioned itself as a high-end model. Although it has not yet been introduced in China, the price will surely exceed 250,000 RMB, as it competes directly with BMW’s water bird model, showing that it is no less powerful.
