Recently, there has been continuous policy support for AI toys. On November 19, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology pointed out that the AI toy industry currently possesses three major characteristics: stronger product integration, redefined functional roles, and full-age coverage. The industry is being promoted through a “three-pronged approach” of policy guarantees, product innovation incentives, and standardized development to drive industry upgrades. Regions like Guangdong have also previously introduced special plans, clearly setting a target for AI toy penetration (to exceed 30% by 2027), providing support for the large-scale and standardized development of the industry.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the market size of AI toys in China is expected to reach 24.6 billion yuan in 2024, and is projected to increase to 29 billion yuan by 2025.
At the industry level, leading companies such as JD, Huawei, and Honor are leveraging their technological ecosystem advantages to deeply integrate AI technology into toy products through self-developed AI platforms (such as JD’s Joylnside) or cross-industry collaborations, enhancing the added value of intelligent companionship.
For example, JD launched a series of self-developed AI plush toys for pre-sale on November 20; Huawei expanded the physical AI toy market in conjunction with the HarmonyOS ecosystem, launching a chat robot called Smart Hanhan, co-designed with AI toy manufacturer Luobo Intelligent on November 25; Honor also collaborated with Yueran Innovation to launch the HeartBearAl doll in September this year.
The media team at CICC is optimistic about AI toy companies driving functional iteration and scenario expansion through technological upgrades and IP accumulation. IP companies and some gaming companies are accelerating their layout of AI products, capturing niche markets through differentiated designs.
