
On November 23, during the 33rd “Innovation Cup” Science and Culture Festival at Central China Normal University, the Internet of Things Association presented the “Fascinating Journey of IoT – Device Competition” special practical activity. As a new chapter in the association’s brand activities, this event continued the principle of “Learning through Fun, Enhancing Skills through Practice”, focusing on the field of intelligent robotics, integrating principle explanations, practical demonstrations, and immersive experiences, providing students with a learning feast that combines technology and practice.
At the beginning of the event, the association’s technical backbone, Liu Derui, started with the hardware composition of the Aleos robot, systematically explaining the working principles of core modules such as the main control, sensors, power, and mechanical arms, and using simple language to elucidate the “Data Perception – Main Control Decision – Command Execution” complete technical loop. He emphasized that this loop reflects the typical applications of IoT technology in automatic control, sensor fusion, and algorithm programming, and demonstrated the basic programming interface on-site, helping students form an intuitive understanding of “Hardware-Software Integration”. During the explanation, students actively asked questions about balance principles, visual recognition, and other topics, leading to frequent interactions and a strong academic atmosphere.

After the theoretical session, the activity moved outside to the laboratory for live demonstrations. Liu Derui operated the Aleos robot, showcasing its ability to flexibly complete movements such as moving forward and turning under remote control commands, as well as the entire process of accurately grabbing and placing blocks using the mechanical arm. The robot’s smooth and stable operation closely linked theoretical knowledge with practical application, eliciting waves of admiration from students and further stimulating their interest in exploring robot control technology.

Subsequently, the practical session took place in the central garden of the South Lake campus. The association set up multiple experience zones, where students, under the safe guidance of members, operated the robots themselves, experiencing basic tasks such as movement and block grabbing through remote controls or simple programming interfaces. From command issuance to the precise execution by the mechanical arm, the close interaction made the abstract IoT technology tangible, creating a lively atmosphere and greatly enhancing students’ enthusiasm for practice.

Through the organic connection of “Theory – Demonstration – Practice”, this “Fascinating Journey of IoT – Device Competition” not only deepened students’ understanding of the core technologies of intelligent robotics but also allowed them to personally experience the charm of IoT technology applications, effectively stimulating their enthusiasm for exploring cutting-edge technology, and providing a strong impetus for creating a campus atmosphere of scientific innovation and guiding students to engage in scientific research practice.
