The World's First 2nm Mobile Chip is on the Way! Procurement Price Lower than Qualcomm Snapdragon 8E5

On November 22, reports indicated that Samsung will launch its annual flagship Galaxy S26 series in the first half of next year, which is expected to include three models: Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

In most regions worldwide, the first two models will be equipped with the Exynos 2600 chip, while some regions will use the Snapdragon 8E5 (fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship version), with the Galaxy S26 Ultra uniformly equipped with the Snapdragon 8E5 globally.

Reports suggest that Samsung’s mobile division has requested that the Exynos 2600 chip supplied for the Galaxy S26 series be priced 20-30 USD lower than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8E5.If negotiations are successful, the cost of the Exynos 2600 version of the Galaxy S26 series will be lower than that of the Snapdragon version.

It is noteworthy that due to rising component costs, Samsung is more inclined to keep the Galaxy S26 series at the same price point as the previous generation models, so there will not be significant upgrades for the Galaxy S26 series.

Additionally, the lower price of the Exynos 2600 compared to the Snapdragon 8E5 does not imply that the Exynos 2600 will be significantly inferior; this chip utilizes Samsung’s 2nm process technology, making it the world’s first 2nm mobile chip (the Snapdragon 8E5 uses TSMC’s 3nm process technology).

In terms of specifications, the Exynos 2600 features a 10-core design, with the CPU comprising 1 super core at 3.80GHz, 3 large cores at 3.26GHz, and 6 small cores at 2.76GHz, achieving a single-core score exceeding 3400 points and a multi-core score exceeding 11,000 points.

Compared to the Snapdragon 8E5, the Exynos 2600’s single-core performance is not as strong, but its multi-core performance is close to that of the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship version, making it Samsung’s most powerful mobile chip to date.
