Samsung Exynos 9810 Details Revealed: 10nm Self-Developed Octa-Core, 18-Core Mali-G72 GPU

In the mobile processor industry, Apple’s A-series is an unbeatable presence, while Qualcomm’s Snapdragon once reigned supreme in the Android camp. However, Samsung’s Exynos and Huawei’s Kirin are also rising rapidly, making the competition fierce.

Following the release of the Snapdragon 845, Samsung quickly launched the new generation Exynos 9810, which will debut alongside the Snapdragon 845 in the new flagship Galaxy S9 series.

According to the latest information, the Exynos 9810 is manufactured using Samsung’s second-generation 10nm LPP process, featuring four high-performance CPU cores based on Samsung’s custom architecture and four power-efficient A55 cores, while integrating up to 18-core Mali-G72 MP18 GPU cores.

According to Samsung’s official Weibo, the four high-performance CPU cores of the Exynos 9810 have a clock speed of up to 2.9GHz, which is an increase of 400-500MHz compared to the current 8 series. The frequency of the four A55 cores is 1.9GHz. Compared to the four A53 cores in the current Exynos 8895, the new generation has improved by 200MHz, and compared to the Exynos 8890, it has increased by a full 400MHz.

The Exynos 9810’s big and little cores can achieve such high frequencies thanks to its excellent architecture design and power management, as well as the new 10nm process, making the competition with the Snapdragon 845 even more interesting.

Interestingly, both the big and little cores of the Exynos 9810 are 100MHz higher than the Snapdragon 845 (with both using the same process).

Additionally, the Exynos 9810 supports four 16-bit LPDDR4X-1794 memory channels, 4K 120Hz H.265/H.264/VP9 video encoding and decoding, a maximum of 28 million pixel front and rear cameras, and integrates the latest Shannon LTE modem, supporting Cat.18 1.2Gbps download (on par with Snapdragon 845/Kirin 970) and six-carrier aggregation/256-QAM, with Cat.13 200Mbps upload and dual-carrier aggregation/64-QAM.

Samsung claims that the single-core processing speed of the Exynos 9810 can improve by about 2 times, while the overall performance improves by about 40%.
