Tech media Wccftech (November 26 ) reported that Samsung has partnered with AI startup Nota AI to significantly enhance the efficiency of its new Exynos 2500 chip’s edge-side AI model.
According to the technical cooperation agreement between the two parties, Nota AI will provide its leading AI model compression and optimization technology, which Samsung has utilized to build an internal AI model optimization toolchain Exynos AI Studio.
This tool can fully leverage the hardware performance of Exynos 2500 to run advanced AI models directly on the device. Myungsu Chae, CEO of Nota AI, emphasized that this collaboration builds a framework of deep integration between software and hardware, aiming to achieve high-performance generative AI on edge devices.
The Exynos 2500 chip is manufactured using Samsung’s latest 3nm GAA process technology, and its CPU features a 10 core design, including a core with a maximum frequency of 3.30GHz which is a Cortex-X925 super core. Additionally, the chip integrates a Xclipse 950 GPU based on AMD RDNA architecture, and is equipped with LPDDR5X memory that supports 76.8 Gb/s data rates.
In terms of AI processing capability, the Exynos 2500 features a dedicated neural processing unit ( NPU), with a performance of 59 trillion operations per second ( 59 TOPS ). Although this performance is impressive, it still lags behind its competitor, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which reportedly reaches 100 TOPS for its NPU.
