Structure and Principle

The PSD position-sensitive sensor can provide the precise position of a laser beam in 9Y space, widely applicable for beam stabilization systems and laser position tracking. As shown in Figure 1, the PSD contains four PN junctions. When the laser illuminates the diode, the four corners output IA, IB, IC, and ID, with the common terminal being COMMON. Through four circuit comparisons, the position of the laser beam on the sensor is determined. Unlike the principle of a four-quadrant diode, the PSD uses an enhanced quadrilateral electrode diode, ensuring a good linear relationship across the entire range of the position sensor.
The product is designed to measure wavelengths from 320-1100 nm; please refer to the following figure (Figure 2) for spectral response rates.
