March 31
The leading RISC-V manufacturer RISC-V Technology
held the 2025 Spring New Product Launch Conference
at the Qianhai International Conference Center in Shenzhen
and made a significant announcement
introducing the next generation of high-performanceLingyu Processor
This processor is China’s first fully self-developed high-performance RISC-V server chip, achieving international mainstream levels in computing power, energy efficiency, and interface configuration, suitable for applications such as high-performance computing, all-flash storage, and open-source large language models like Deepseek. This also marks the gradual formation of a high-performance RISC-V ecosystem moving towards large-scale deployment.
As a startup that returned from Silicon Valley in 2018 and settled in the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Dream Factory, RISC-V Technology has seen results after seven years of development. Liang Ke, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Qianhai Cooperation Zone, stated that RISC-V Technology, as one of the representative emerging technology companies incubated and grown in Qianhai, has demonstrated leading capabilities in breaking through key core technologies independently. Qianhai will focus on building an artificial intelligence development ecosystem, continuously constructing a full-chain scientific and technological innovation service system, creating a first-class environment for enterprise development, supporting the development of outstanding high-potential companies like RISC-V Technology, and accelerating the implementation of more innovative results in Qianhai, contributing to Shenzhen’s goal of becoming a globally influential industrial technology innovation center.
Fully Self-Developed Core Processor and On-Chip Network Architecture
RISC-V Enters the Era of High Performance
At the launch conference, Dr. Tan Zhangxi, founder, chairman of the board, and CEO of RISC-V Technology, officially released the Lingyu Processor and highlighted its key breakthroughs in performance and architecture, achieving significant improvements in single-core performance and multi-core parallel performance, providing a significant advantage over existing mainstream server processors.
The Lingyu Processor is based on RISC-V Technology’s fully self-developed CPU core IP and on-chip network IP, implementing advanced out-of-order execution, high-speed data pathways, and a Mesh interconnect structure. Through a design-process collaborative optimization of hardware and software, innovations have been achieved in product engineering, EDA toolchains, physical design, and wafer manufacturing processes, significantly enhancing the energy efficiency ratio during computation and optimizing the total cost of ownership (TCO).
Its computing performance is on par with international mainstream server chips from Intel and AMD, pushing RISC-V into the era of high performance. In terms of memory and I/O interface support, the Lingyu Processor supports DDR5 high-speed memory, PCIe 5.0 standards, and CXL 2.0 protocols, with support for up to 8-way interconnects. Additionally, the Lingyu Processor features enterprise-level RAS characteristics, meeting RISC-V server standards, with a built-in dedicated management core and support for dynamic adjustment, ensuring stability under high-load operations to meet enterprise data center demands.
Gathering Leading Strategic Partners
The RISC-V High-Performance Ecosystem Takes Shape
At the launch conference, the most anticipated RISC-V high-performance solutions were jointly released by leading industry companies such as Lenovo, Great Wall, and SanNuo, marking that the Lingyu Processor has successfully built a complete technology and product ecosystem, which will strongly promote the large-scale deployment of RISC-V in the high-performance server market, bringing a new path of independence, security, and efficiency to China’s computing power system construction.
Executives from Lenovo, SanNuo, and other companies shared industry insights and practical experiences under themes such as “Innovative Architecture Leading the Future” and “Embracing Open Source, Intelligent Computing for the Future,” responding to the current industry’s focus on open-source RISC-V systems, autonomous control, and high-performance computing architectures, and introduced high-performance server products based on RISC-V Technology’s Lingyu Processor, further demonstrating that the RISC-V high-performance ecosystem is transitioning from research and development to implementation, forming a collaborative force for sustainable industrial development.
It is reported that the Lingyu Processor ecosystem has gathered over 50 partners, covering key component manufacturers, complete machine OEMs, system software, and industry solutions.
Widespread Discussion
Applauding the Driving Force of Domestic Innovation
In the context of continuously growing computing power demands, the Lingyu Processor, as a domestic high-performance representative of the RISC-V architecture, is ushering in a broad market space. With its openness and customizability, the Lingyu Processor not only competes with traditional X86 and Arm architectures but also provides a more cost-effective option for the server market, expected to become an important driving force for a new round of domestic innovation with its high energy efficiency, high flexibility, and a fully domestic computing solution that adapts well to the ecosystem.
Dr. Rong Zhicheng, Vice Chairman of the Board of RISC-V Technology and founding partner of Huaxu Fund, stated that as an early investor in RISC-V Technology, witnessing the release of the Lingyu Processor, the domestic breakthrough of the RISC architecture is not only a victory at the technical level but also the beginning of reconstructing the underlying ecosystem of China’s semiconductor industry. He believes that RISC-V Technology can continuously break through based on its deep technical accumulation and become a leading enterprise in the RISC-V architecture and high-performance computing field.
Zhou Meng, Executive Secretary of the RISC-V Working Committee of the China Electronic Industry Standardization Technology Association, stated that the development of the RISC-V ecosystem requires more benchmark IP and chip products to support it. The RISC-V Working Committee is willing to continue to work with RISC-V Technology and other industry, academia, and research units to jointly promote the development of the RISC-V ecosystem in terms of technology, talent, and application demonstration.
Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and founding dean of Zero One Academy, Zheng Quanshui, stated that today’s release is of special significance, not only a technical breakthrough but also a model of innovation from the source to industrial implementation. Dr. Tan Zhangxi and his team at RISC-V Technology successfully brought the innovative spark of RISC-V from the San Francisco Bay Area to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, achieving a leap from the laboratory to the market. This exploration from 0 to 1 is a vivid portrayal of China’s technological breakthrough.
