Over 4500 kilometers apart, teachers and students from Wuhan Vocational and Technical College and Kashgar Vocational and Technical College gathered in the cloud on June 9 for a remote live interactive teaching session, in collaboration with the Wisdom Tree platform.
The launch ceremony for the “3D Printing Technology Popularization Course” was held in the immersive classroom of our school library. Attendees included Vice President Guo Sha, Director of the Academic Affairs Office Xia Guangwei, Dean of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Lu Hongsheng, Vice Dean Zhu Hong; our Academic Affairs Office Director Li Xin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Applied Engineering Department Cao Dongmei, Department Head Yang Wenming, Deputy Department Head Rezeiye Supuer, and instructor Nuraili Ainiwaner, along with 40 students from the 2019 Mechatronics program.

During the launch ceremony, Guo Sha and Li Xin delivered speeches introducing the basic information about both schools. Guo Sha mentioned that the synchronous classroom teaching method eliminates the influence of geographical factors on education, allowing for extensive exchange and learning in vocational education, enabling teachers and students to share high-quality resources, which greatly promotes the development of vocational education. Li Xin expressed gratitude to Wuhan Vocational and Technical College for conducting the synchronous classroom and sharing high-quality resources.

After the launch ceremony, Zhu Hong began the first class titled “The Wonderful Changes Brought by Additive Manufacturing Technology.” Teacher Zhu introduced the current popular 3D printing technology by referencing a scene from the movie “CZ12” starring Jackie Chan, where scanning gloves were used to transmit the 3D data of the zodiac sheep’s head to a terminal for replication using 3D printing technology. He then covered the basic concepts, the three core skills of 3D printing technology, and compared additive manufacturing with subtractive manufacturing, concluding that the fundamental source of 3D printing technology is the use of digital technology to print materials.

After attending Teacher Zhu’s class, 2019 Mechatronics student Xie Pukai said: “Through this class, I learned what 3D printing technology is, the difference between additive manufacturing technology and subtractive manufacturing technology, and gained a deeper understanding of my major.”
