In today’s world, where artificial intelligence technology is sweeping across the globe, China’s “AI +” initiative is transforming from a strategic blueprint into vibrant practices across various industries. On November 17, reporters visited the Guangxi Canglong Technology Co., Ltd. innovation and manufacturing base for smart ocean equipment located in the Jinwo Industrial Park of Qinzhou City. In a rectangular testing pool, a black “iron lump” occasionally surfaced and then sank, moving gracefully as if dancing in the water. This is not a scene from a science fiction movie, but rather the “Tanhai 100” intelligent robot developed independently by Guangxi Canglong Technology Co., Ltd. conducting simulated operations.
“Currently, this underwater robot has achieved mass production, with an annual output capacity of up to 2000 units,” said Huang Shichun, the base director, to reporters. Canglong Technology has gradually overcome key technologies in deep-sea equipment such as power supply, communication, sealing, and control, relying on the technical strength and expert resources from institutions like Ocean University of China and Guilin University of Electronic Technology, making the ‘Made in Guangxi’ underwater robot highly competitive in the market. The company has formed two major product series: bionic robotic fish and the ‘Tanhai’ underwater robot, achieving large-scale production.

On November 5, the 8th China International Import Expo was held in Shanghai, where Canglong Technology’s exhibits were displayed in the China Pavilion. Canglong Technology provided the image.
The rapid growth of the enterprise is supported by strong national and regional artificial intelligence strategies. The suggestions from the 20th Central Committee’s Fourth Plenary Session on formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development propose the comprehensive implementation of the “AI +” initiative, empowering various industries in all aspects. The 2025 government work report of the autonomous region states that artificial intelligence is an important driving force for a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and Guangxi cannot be absent or lag behind. In response to the strategic deployment of the Central Committee and the State Council on promoting artificial intelligence development, as well as the decisions of the regional party committee and government to empower various industries with “AI +”, the Qinzhou Municipal Committee and the Municipal People’s Government regard the artificial intelligence industry as an important engine for urban development, accelerating the promotion of the “AI +” initiative, striving for deep integration of artificial intelligence with the real economy. Under the guidance of the national artificial intelligence development strategy, our city, with the courage to explore and try, has released the “Three-Year Implementation Plan for Breakthrough Actions in Artificial Intelligence Development,” clearly proposing a “1+9+N” overall framework to build a supporting system of “nine ones,” aiming to achieve a revenue of over 15 billion yuan in the core digital economy industries by 2027, cultivate 50 related enterprises, and create an AI innovation application source for ASEAN.

“Choosing to establish a manufacturing base in Qinzhou is a key step in the company’s strategy,” said Huang Yifeng, the sales manager of the marketing department. Qinzhou has a clear geographical advantage, backed by the southwest and central south, and facing ASEAN. Localized layout not only facilitates quick responses to customers but also benefits from the near-sea environment for real testing.
Looking to the future, Canglong Technology plans to expand into deeper waters. A relevant company representative stated that within the next three to five years, they aim to achieve operational capabilities at depths of 300 to 500 meters and deepen the integration of artificial intelligence technology, tackling key technologies such as autonomous decision-making and cluster operations, injecting new momentum into Guangxi’s high-quality development of the marine economy.

From breakthroughs in the laboratory to mass production on the production line, from near-sea testing to venturing into the deep blue, every step of the ‘Made in Guangxi’ underwater robot showcases the power of technological innovation and is a vivid epitome of the “AI +” initiative empowering various industries. When the national strategy for artificial intelligence resonates with local proactive practices, it will undoubtedly inject continuous intelligent new momentum into the high-quality development of the regional economy.
