Brief Introduction

With the rapid development of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing, industrial IoT technology is profoundly changing the production and management models of traditional industries. As a core component of this transformation, the smart gateway is indispensable in device interconnection, data collection, and edge computing.
The Role of Smart Gateways in IoT
The smart gateway is the core hub of the Internet of Things (IoT), playing a dual role as a “translator” and “commander”:
Protocol Conversion: Connects devices with different communication protocols (such as Modbus, MQTT, etc.), breaking down “language barriers” and enabling data interoperability across brands and networks.
Data Hub: Gathers data from sensors and device terminals, filters redundant information, compresses key data, and uploads it to the cloud platform, reducing network load.
Edge Computing: Locally processes some data (such as anomaly alerts and device linkage commands), reducing dependence on the cloud, improving response speed, and ensuring real-time performance (such as second-level alerts for industrial equipment failures).
Security Protection: Isolates terminal devices from the cloud, filters malicious attacks, encrypts transmitted data, and builds a security barrier for the IoT system.
Device Management: Supports remote monitoring and configuration of downstream devices, enabling batch upgrades and status inspections, simplifying the complexity of large-scale device operations and maintenance.
It is equivalent to the “router + translator + local brain” of the IoT, allowing fragmented devices to form an organic whole, serving as a key bridge connecting the physical and digital worlds.

Shanghai Technology Industrial Park Project
This project invested in the construction of a comprehensive energy project integrating photovoltaic power generation, distributed energy storage devices, and charging piles in the industrial park. Through analysis of the load distribution and electricity consumption characteristics of the park’s enterprises, a small microgrid transformation of the park’s electricity was carried out.
On-site use of our PZ series + prepaid DTSY series instruments was implemented. Since the data collected needed to be uploaded to our energy consumption cloud platform and prepaid cloud platform in two paths, the project plan adopted the ANet gateway for data collection and forwarding. This project realized a prepaid model where enterprises pay for electricity before use, greatly improving the difficulties in charging for the park and the inconvenience of payment for enterprise users. The owner customer optimized the electricity usage plan in a timely manner based on the analysis of electricity consumption data, adjusting the electricity load reasonably, reducing energy loss, and continuously improving system line loss, achieving a reduction of nearly 20% in the park’s power grid loss.

Beijing Winter Olympics Project
Real-time monitoring of electricity consumption at the Winter Olympics venues was conducted, covering parameters such as voltage, current, power, and energy of low-voltage switches at the venue’s end, AC input voltage and current of UPS, output voltage and current, rectifier and inverter working status, battery working status, remaining power percentage, and generator working and operating status and related parameters. Environmental temperature, humidity, hydrogen concentration, and smoke alarm status in indoor and outdoor areas, as well as the operation status of heating/cooling systems and door switch status in constant temperature boxes were monitored.
After data collection, it was forwarded to the touch screen via ModbusTcp protocol for local intelligent monitoring, while the data was transmitted to the Winter Olympics venue’s distribution master station system via a 4G APN private network using the 104 protocol, achieving real-time collection, storage, online detection, and proactive warning of the above equipment’s operating parameters and status. Based on these requirements, the ANet-2E4SM model gateway was recommended.

Conclusion
In the wave of industrial transformation, the ANet smart network has become a trusted partner in the digital transformation journey of enterprises. It breaks down communication barriers between devices, allowing data to flow rapidly, injecting intelligent “blood” into industrial production. From smart power monitoring to new energy generation monitoring, from smart manufacturing to building energy consumption management, wherever the ANet gateway goes, efficiency and innovation thrive.
Looking to the future, with the continuous evolution of industrial IoT technology, Ankerui will uphold the spirit of innovation and continuously refine the ANet series products. We firmly believe that the ANet smart gateway will shine in broader application scenarios, helping more enterprises unlock their digital potential and steadily advance towards a new journey of intelligence on the global industrial competition stage.
