Newcomers often face challenges in the workplace, sometimes being subjected to PUA (manipulative tactics) by their leaders. This reflects both the leaders’ desire to “educate” employees and the newcomers’ lack of awareness.
As qualified employees, we should enhance our awareness and refuse to be manipulated by leaders.
5. Skills Development Bottlenecks
It must be said that most people are under significant pressure, especially those of us born in the 80s and 90s, facing various pressures such as mortgage payments, car loans, and children’s education, leaving little time and energy to improve our skills.
Moreover, the adverse economic environment in recent years, along with salary cuts and layoffs, has affected most people. Those with families and aging concerns may find it even harder to focus on skill enhancement.
6. Career Development Bottlenecks
Most frontline engineers do not have a long-term career plan. If they do not habitually learn new skills, they may become complacent, leading to a lack of motivation to explore other areas of work.
After working in development for a long time and becoming familiar with the skills within their job scope, they may resist stepping out of their comfort zone. After a certain number of years, they will experience career development bottlenecks or anxiety.
