Nuvoton Launches NuMicro® M2A23 Automotive-grade MCU

Nuvoton has launched the NuMicro® M2A23 automotive-grade MCU, setting a new benchmark for intelligent vehicle lighting, body control, and industrial applications.

Nuvoton Technology has introduced the NuMicro® M2A23 series microcontrollers, specifically designed for automotive and industrial applications. This series can operate in ambient temperatures of up to 125°C and features up to three CAN FD interfaces. The M2A23 series represents a significant breakthrough in performance, with processing speeds nearly doubling compared to the previous generation NuMicro® M0A23 products, while maintaining high product reliability.

The NuMicro® M2A23 series is a newly launched 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M23 microcontroller, designed to meet the stringent requirements of automotive and industrial control. This series can operate at ambient temperatures up to 125°C and supports a wide voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V, equipped with three CAN FD interfaces and one LLSI interface, making it particularly suitable for various in-vehicle CAN signal modules and internal/external lighting control applications.

The M2A23 series is powered by the Arm Cortex-M23 core, with a maximum operating frequency of up to 72 MHz. This series offers up to 256 KB Flash, 24 KB SRAM, 4 KB LDROM, and 2 KB SPROM, which can be used for storing version data and various types of code, without the risk of being erased due to a whole chip erase. Additionally, the series supports multiple boot loading interfaces, including CAN FD, SPI, UART, and I2C, and features up to six PDMA channels, effectively enhancing data transfer efficiency and reducing CPU load to ensure smooth system operation.

The M2A23 series provides 12 channels of 144 MHz PWM output, suitable for precise task scheduling, meeting the demands of real-time control applications. In terms of communication, the M2A23 series integrates various communication functions, including one LIN interface, two UART interfaces supporting One-Wire, IrDA, and RS485 functions, one I2C interface, one SPI interface, and two USCI modules configurable as UART, I2C, or SPI. Three CAN FD interfaces ensure compliance with modern automotive and industrial network standards. Furthermore, the M2A23 series includes two comparators and a 12-bit ADC, supporting a maximum rate of 2 Msps, with 16 channels, and an integrated temperature sensor for reliable data acquisition.

The M2A23 series offers various packaging options, including QFN48 (5mm x 5mm), LQFP48 (7mm x 7mm), and LQFP64 (7mm x 7mm), with the largest package supporting up to 55 GPIO pins.

The NuMicro® M2A23 series microcontrollers feature high-temperature resistance and advanced CAN FD capabilities, making them particularly suitable for automotive and industrial applications. In automotive systems, this series can drive in-vehicle networks and body control devices; in industrial automation, it can be applied to motor control and sensor data processing. With its powerful features and high reliability, the M2A23 series microcontrollers will bring new breakthroughs to the automotive and industrial sectors.

This series supports various development environments (IDE), including the fully functional free versions of Keil MDK, IAR EWARM, and Nuvoton’s own NuEclipse. Additionally, Nuvoton provides user-friendly software development tools such as PinView and PinConfig, which help accelerate the product launch process.
