According to a report from Electronic Enthusiasts (by Huang Jingjing), Chengdu Huayi Electronics recently announced that the HWD12B40GA4 ADC chip developed by the company is a multi-channel high-speed, high-precision RF direct sampling ADC with 4 channels, 12-bit resolution, and a sampling rate of 40 GSPS. This chip represents a significant breakthrough in the company’s technological innovation. Based on the existing multi-channel high-speed high-precision ADC, this chip further enhances sampling rate, bandwidth, and other technical indicators, filling the gap in similar products both domestically and internationally, achieving a leading international technological level. Chengdu Huayi’s product line includes large-scale FPGAs, ultra-high-speed ADCs, high-performance MCUs, as well as temperature sensors, memory chips, clocks and drivers, power management chips, and more. At the recent 2025 Elexcon Shenzhen International Electronics Show, Chengdu Huayi launched its latest ultra-low power RISC-V MCU, which also boasts excellent performance and low power consumption.
The newly released HWD01001 ultra-low power RISC-V MCU integrates a 32-bit RISC-V core designed by Chengdu Huayi. This core, combined with multi-level low-power design technology, successfully achieves outstanding ultra-low power performance. The single-core main frequency reaches 20 MHz, with a working power consumption of 120 uA/MHz, standby power consumption of <200 nA, and a wake-up current of 150 uA. It supports an 11-channel ADC with 12-bit precision at 1 MSPS and a DAC with 12-bit precision at 1 MSPS. It features 64 KB of eFlash and 4 KB of SRAM storage space. The rich peripheral units support common interfaces such as CAN 2.0, PWM, UART, I2C, SPI, and Timer. Hu Can, the director of the SoC R&D center, analyzed in an interview with Electronic Enthusiasts and other media that the ultra-low power design is the unique feature of this chip. It supports low-power power management, sleep mode, and bypass mode, as well as fast wake-up. Additionally, it supports built-in interrupt management, a built-in debugging system, has a high reliability ESD rating, and a lightweight packaging form. Due to its ultra-low standby power consumption, it supports long battery life. This chip also supports a self-developed hardware architecture combined with the domestic Harmony operating system, showcasing the strength of independent innovation in domestic chips through the combination of self-developed underlying hardware and software. Because of these remarkable features, the HWD01001 ultra-low power MCU can be widely used in ultra-lightweight scenarios such as brain-computer interfaces, AI glasses, wearable devices, IoT devices, and robotics. It is reported that recently, Huayi signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sichuan Embodied Humanoid Robot Technology Co., Ltd. to carry out in-depth cooperation at the chip level, jointly promoting the localization of core components for intelligent robots. According to the plan, Huayi’s next-generation high-performance MCU will adopt a multi-core heterogeneous design, integrating CPU + FPGA + NPU architecture, suitable for AI inference and edge computing scenarios. There will be dual-core and quad-core products, with increased main frequency and computing power covering 8 TOPS, 12 TOPS, etc. In the future, it will also expand to high-computing inference AI CPUs, with a 256-core chip main frequency reaching 1.5 GHz and computing power up to 256 TOPS. Data shows that in the first half of 2025, Chengdu Huayi’s R&D expenses reached 100 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 36.67%, accounting for 28.27% of revenue. It can be seen that continuous high R&D investment provides strong support for Huayi’s technological innovation.
