On November 28, Dell Technologies, HP, and other tech companies warned that due to the surge in demand for memory chips driven by artificial intelligence infrastructure development, there may be a shortage of memory chip supply next year.
Consumer electronics manufacturers like Xiaomi have warned of potential price increases, while other companies such as Lenovo have begun stockpiling memory chips to cope with rising costs.
Counterpoint Research predicted this month that memory module prices will rise by 50% by the second quarter of next year. If the current global shortage of storage chips continues into next year, downstream application manufacturers will inevitably bear higher costs.
