FLL (FIRST LEGO League) is an international STEM education competition aimed at students aged 9-14, co-hosted by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and LEGO Education. The purpose of FLL is to cultivate students’ scientific inquiry, engineering thinking, and teamwork skills through robot design, programming, and project innovation.
FLL consists of three main components:
-
Robot Game: Using LEGO robots to complete designated tasks.
-
Core Values: Emphasizing teamwork, respect, innovation, and a spirit of learning.
-
Innovation Project (Research Project): Teams select a real-world problem to research and propose innovative solutions.
The FLL Innovation Project accounts for 50% of the overall competition score, highlighting its central role in FLL. It requires students to not only use their hands but also to think critically and engage emotionally. The main steps include:

The FLL Innovation Project not only trains teams in collaboration and problem-solving but also allows children to deeply understand the application of science and technology in real life. It is not just a competition experience but a way to inspire students to identify problems, propose ideas, and practice innovation. It teaches us that every small idea has the potential to bring about real change, nurturing the innovative power of society for the future. For this reason, the importance of the FLL Innovation Project far exceeds the competition itself—it cultivates future creators, thinkers, and doers, injecting new vitality into the advancement of technology and social development.
The FLL competition team led by Dr. Owl Academy is actively preparing for the new season of 2025-2026. This season’s theme is “UNEARTHED”, focusing on archaeology, encouraging students to explore historical sites, uncover cultural heritage, and consider how to use modern technology to protect and pass on human civilization. We look forward to the children gaining knowledge, growing, and having wonderful experiences during their learning process.
