Fixing Bluetooth Issues on Mac: Module Reset and Service Restart
Mac users have probably encountered this situation: Bluetooth headphones are clearly on, but they won’t connect; the mouse and keyboard mysteriously disconnect… As an engineer with 8 years of experience in Mac repairs, today I will teach you how to completely say goodbye to Bluetooth connection troubles.
Bluetooth issues can be really frustrating! Just the other day, I encountered a customer whose MacBook Pro became extremely unstable in Bluetooth connectivity after upgrading to Sonoma. What’s most annoying is that this kind of malfunction often occurs suddenly during important meetings or when deadlines are approaching. 😣
1. Basic Troubleshooting (Beginner Friendly)
Turn Bluetooth off and on again
– Click the Bluetooth icon in the upper right corner
– Wait 10 seconds and then turn it back on
– Over 80% of simple issues are resolved at this step
Device pairing reset
– Remove paired devices
– Search and pair again
– It is recommended to keep the devices within 30cm
Turn off potential interference sources
– Turn off nearby WiFi routers
– Stay away from microwave ovens and other electromagnetic devices
– Special reminder: Metal objects can also affect Bluetooth signals!
2. Advanced Repair Techniques (Requires Some Operational Basics)
Core Secret: Reset the system Bluetooth module
Delete Bluetooth configuration file
– Navigate to directory: ~/Library/Preferences/
– Find com.apple.bluetooth.plist
– Remember to back up this file just in case
SMC reset (Applicable for Intel Mac)
– While powered off
– Hold down left Shift + left Control + left Option
– While holding these, press the power button for 7 seconds
