Lighting Up the Green Planet in Children’s Hearts!
In our daily lives, we often generate some discarded bottles, cans, and cardboard. To most people, they are soon-to-be discarded “trash”; but in the imaginative minds of children, they are treasures waiting to be illuminated with creativity!
The “Environmental Robotics Workshop” carefully planned by Qixi Culture joyfully opened amidst the children’s expectations. This is a wonderful journey that combines environmental education, creative inspiration, and hands-on practice. Let’s revisit those wonderful moments together!
Starting from Scratch
Collecting Parts for the “Mecha”
At the beginning of the event, the teacher first showed the children a “robot prototype” assembled from various waste materials. The children widened their eyes, filled with curiosity. “So the drink bottles I finish every day can become the body of a robot!” “The yogurt box can be the head!”
In a simple science popularization session, the teacher vividly explained the importance of waste classification and resource reuse, planting a green seed in the children’s hearts. Next came the segment the children were most looking forward to – selecting their own “mecha core parts”! Faced with a dazzling array of “waste material libraries”, the children carefully selected the torso, arms, and legs for their robots as if they were treasure hunting.

Concept and Design
First, sketch the robot’s appearance in your mind. Is it a mighty warrior or a cute assistant?

Joining and Assembling
Carefully glue with a hot glue gun and cleverly secure with thread. Look, these two bottles glued together become the robot’s body; several cans combined become strong legs. This process not only exercises the children’s hands-on abilities but also tests their spatial construction thinking.

Focus and Collaboration
The scene was filled with focused figures. Some children completed tasks independently, looking serious; others quietly discussed with new friends nearby, helping each other. “Teacher, can you help me hold this here?” – such voices rose and fell, and the spirit of collaboration quietly grew.
Color Magic
Giving the Robot a Soul
As the robot’s outline gradually became clear, the most exciting coloring segment arrived! The children selected their favorite colors and waved their brushes to dress their partners in unique “clothes”.
Some chose cool metallic silver and blue, creating futuristic warriors; others used bright yellow and red to paint passionate flame patterns; and a little girl adorned her robot with stars and flowers, full of romantic fairy tale colors. At this moment, there are no right or wrong answers, only boundless imagination splashed across the canvas. Each robot is endowed with a unique story and soul.

With your keen eyes, you saw possibilities in discarded items; with your nimble hands, you pieced together scattered parts into a complete life. When you painted the final color on your robot, you must have understood: the so-called “waste” is just a treasure misplaced; the real magic comes from our creativity and action.

May the environmental seed planted today take root and sprout in your hearts, accompanying your growth.
