August 2025 is the month of robotics. On August 18 at 8:20, the humanoid robot A2 from Zhiyuan completed 24 hours of autonomous walking in Shanghai; on August 17, the World Humanoid Robot Games, with 127 participating brands, concluded competitions in running, long jump, and other events in Beijing; the World Robot Conference, which ended on August 12, attracted 169 global enterprises. These events demonstrate that China’s humanoid robot industry is rapidly rising.

In the field of traditional industrial robots, China is both a major producer and the country with the most applications. This trend is likely to continue in the new era of robotics, as China has a more complete supply chain, a large number of entrepreneurs, and a vast market. Wang Chuang, president of Zhiyuan Robotics’ General Business Department, stated that China has a high probability of winning in the global humanoid robot competition.

The Expedition A2 is a full-size humanoid robot. It quickly recharges through a “hot-swappable battery” method, operates entirely without remote control intervention, autonomously completes obstacle avoidance and path planning, and achieved 24 hours of outdoor walking. This activity aimed to verify the robot’s stability, environmental adaptability, and hardware reliability. Wang Chuang noted that no one in the industry has ever attempted to have a robot walk autonomously for 24 hours, which thoroughly tested the stability across various environments from the body to the algorithms.
From August 15 to 17, over a hundred humanoid robot brands participated in the World Humanoid Robot Games, featuring 26 events including 1500 meters and free gymnastics, with 487 matches. These robots showcased their abilities in running, dancing, and responding to falls and collisions, reflecting the competitive landscape of China’s humanoid robot industry.
At the World Robot Conference from August 8 to 12, 169 companies from around the world showcased over a hundred new products, including the new generation of embodied intelligent humanoid robot DOBOT Atom II from Yujian, which possesses dual-brain decision-making and dual-arm coordination capabilities. Yujian began developing humanoid robots in 2023, previously focusing on industrial robots. The company believes that transitioning from industrial to humanoid is not a change of track, but an evolution towards more complex systems.
