On November 27, the Quark AI glasses were officially released, featuring two series, S1 and G1, with a total of six models, equipped with Alibaba’s Qianwen AI assistant.
At the launch event, Alibaba Group Vice President Wu Jia stated that the Quark AI glasses offer the best overall experience, supported by Alibaba’s comprehensive Qianwen AI capabilities and ecosystem. “As Qianwen rapidly evolves, the Quark AI glasses will become increasingly user-friendly.”
The battlefield of AI is rapidly expanding from cloud computing and mobile applications to the real world right in front of us.
As global tech giants compete to explore the commercialization paths of large models, Alibaba is positioning itself in the “wearable AI” ecosystem through the combination of “Qianwen + Quark AI glasses.”
Alibaba is attempting to make AI leap out of the smartphone screen, becoming an intelligent partner that is always accessible in our field of vision, thus gaining a leading edge in the competition for the next generation of human-computer interaction interfaces.
▎Quark Debuts “Dual-Core Dual-Eye” Technology
At the launch event, Quark revealed the detailed specifications of the AI glasses for the first time.
In terms of hardware, the Quark AI glasses S1 are equipped with dual flagship chips, featuring dual optical machines for binocular display, adjustable convergence distance, and a brightness of 4000 nits, ensuring clear visibility in outdoor environments. The product includes five microphone arrays and bone conduction technology, allowing for more accurate voice pickup and filtering of environmental noise, enabling users to naturally converse with Qianwen even in noisy settings like subways and streets.
In terms of photography, the product can achieve ultra-fast capture in 0.6 seconds, 3K video recording, and for the first time incorporates mobile-level imaging technology into smart glasses, along with a dual anti-shake system to enhance image quality and stability in low-light conditions.
The Quark AI glasses feature an ultra-thin temple and frame design, making them look more like regular glasses. The frame is 3.3 mm thick, and through custom-developed miniaturized speakers and innovative designs like ultra-narrow integrated FPC, the temple is only 7.5 mm wide, making it the narrowest in its category globally. It also employs a two-dimensional diffraction waveguide solution and high refractive index lenses with coating technology to enhance lens transparency.
To improve wearing comfort, the nose pads and ear bends of the Quark AI glasses are designed with a bionic approach, closely matching human curves, and the titanium alloy material is molded into the temple, specifically designed for Asian head shapes.
Additionally, the Quark AI glasses feature an industry-first dual battery replaceable design, allowing users to quickly replace the battery by removing the temple, alleviating battery anxiety. The product also offers an integrated fitting solution for prescription lenses.
The newly launched Quark AI glasses G1 focus more on fashion and portability, weighing around 40 grams. Besides lacking a display, the G1 shares the same hardware configurations in terms of chips, acoustics, and photography as the S1. The G1 series products are available for reservation through online channels on the same day.
▎Alibaba Ecosystem Fully Engaged
The Quark AI glasses have become a common tool for many video bloggers and cycling enthusiasts, backed by a deeply integrated experience with core Alibaba ecosystem services such as Alipay, Amap, Taobao, Fliggy, and Alibaba Business Travel.
Simply saying “Quark take a photo” or “Quark record a video” can instantly activate the corresponding functions of Quark. Saying “Quark exit” can terminate the function. A Quark representative explained that Quark will also use voiceprint recognition to control Alipay, enabling a secure and seamless payment experience.
Furthermore, the Quark AI glasses will collaborate with partners like QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, and Flight Butler to continuously enrich usage scenarios. The product manager Jin Xian revealed that future products will also support the MCP protocol to build a developer ecosystem.
Behind the rich software capabilities is the “superpower” provided by Alibaba’s Qianwen AI assistant. Within just one week of public testing, Qianwen’s download count exceeded 10 million. Wu Jia stated that the rapid growth of Qianwen signifies that the explosion of AI applications has reached a critical moment. “Alibaba’s large model has made significant breakthroughs after three years of development, making it possible to create a truly useful AI assistant.” Currently, Alibaba’s Qianwen model has surpassed models like Llama and Deepseek, becoming the strongest and most widely used open-source large model globally, with over 700 million downloads worldwide.
After breaking out of the smartphone, Qianwen will have a larger space to showcase its capabilities.
At the launch event, Wu Jia envisioned a forthcoming scenario: “For example, in sports and health, the glasses are more stable relative to the head position. If we add sensors for eye movement, heart rate, and blood oxygen, we can track body data in real-time under different exercise conditions. With user authorization, Qianwen can provide more scientific health services, leading to a more proactive AI experience. We believe that in the future, every pair of glasses will be AI glasses, and everyone will need a pair of AI glasses.”

The launch of the Quark AI glasses marks the completion of Alibaba’s “full-stack AI” strategy, closing the loop from model layer, application layer to hardware layer.
For the industry, the entry of giants will greatly accelerate the transition of AI glasses from geek toys to mainstream consumer products, while elevating the competition dimension from purely hardware specifications to a comprehensive confrontation of “algorithms + ecosystem + experience.”
