It converts the internal form of information into a form that humans can accept; any field involved in human-machine information exchange has a human-machine interface.
The touch screen is a type of human-machine interface for PLCs, where humans can adjust or monitor parameters by touching buttons on the screen. However, the human-machine interface does not necessarily have to be entirely touch screens; some have several buttons installed on the operation panel, allowing humans to monitor the PLC operation through the buttons.
