Children need to stick to their parents for everything, whether it’s building blocks or reading picture books, and they need their parents to coax them to sleep…

Adults also need to rest, so mobile phones, tablets, and electronic watches have become the only “tools” that can keep children quiet on their own.

Children’s Smartwatches Have Become Tools for Fraud

A 7-8 year old boy in Changsha, Hunan, lent his phone watch to a stranger to make a call, and the SIM card was taken away. Soon after, the boy’s mother discovered that her phone number had been blocked and reported it to the police.

The Changsha police found that these criminals often fabricated various reasons (such as the phone being out of battery, lost, or needing to contact family urgently) to borrow the phone watch from children. Once the child handed over the watch, they quickly removed the SIM card within seconds and returned the watch to the child before leaving the scene.

These cards were used to make scam calls and would be blocked afterward, rendering the parent’s main phone unusable as well.

As parents, you should remember the following anti-fraud tips:

Remind children not to easily lend their smartwatches to strangers;

If the watch’s SIM card is stolen, immediately call 110 or 96110 to report it and contact the carrier to report the loss;

Enable SIM card protection features; the SIM card password is a personal identification password for the phone card, and after resetting, it requires the correct password to be entered each time the device is powered on.

How Harmful Are Electronic Products to Children!

1. Mobile phones contain a variety of colorful games that stimulate the brain to produce dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and happiness.

When children continuously obtain this “happiness hormone” through mobile phones, they may develop an excessive dependence on them. For children whose brains are still developing, prolonged exposure to this “instant gratification” may lead to poor brain development, irritability, and excessive sensitivity, among other negative growth outcomes.

2. Excessive time spent on electronic products reduces opportunities and time for communication with peers and family, depriving children of an environment for language development.

Delayed language development can further affect children’s cognitive, social, emotional, thinking, and imaginative abilities.

3. It is well known that electronic products are harmful to children’s eyes, not due to radiation, but because of the blue light emitted by electronic screens. This blue light is not just blue light; it refers to the light emitted by LED screens of mobile phones, computers, TVs, iPads, etc.

Blue light can penetrate the cornea and lens of the eye, directly stimulating the retina, leading to eye fatigue and dryness, directly affecting children’s vision, and may even cause damage to the nervous system.

Moreover, when children focus too much on their phones or iPads, the eye muscles remain in a very tense state, which is also a reason for vision damage caused by electronic devices.
