On September 24, 2025, at 15:56, the Long March 3B rocket developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation successfully lifted off from the sea near Rizhao, Shandong, successfully sending the Geely Constellation 06 group of satellites and the Peking University Time and Space Star 01 experimental satellite into a low Earth orbit (LEO) at an altitude of 600 kilometers and an inclination of 50° using a “one arrow, twelve stars” method. The successful launch of the satellites marks the completion of the first phase of the Geely Constellation network of 64 satellites, achieving global real-time communication coverage except for the polar regions, and verifying China’s technological breakthroughs in low-cost, high-density launches in the commercial space sector. At the same time, it provides global real-time data communication services for the automotive and consumer electronics sectors.

Geely Constellation Completion: 64 Satellites Build Global Real-Time Communication Network
This constellation is constructed and operated by the Chinese commercial aerospace company Time and Space Daoyu, focusing on scenarios such as intelligent connected vehicles, marine fisheries, emergency communications, and transportation logistics, providing global real-time satellite IoT communication services.
“After the completion of the first phase of the Geely Constellation network, communication with millisecond-level latency can be achieved from any location in the world, providing critical support for latency-sensitive applications such as autonomous driving and remote medical care,” said the chief scientist of Time and Space Daoyu.
According to calculations, within the coverage area of the first phase of the constellation, the cost of user terminal devices is reduced by 60% compared to traditional satellite communications, and power consumption is reduced by 40%, laying the foundation for large-scale commercial applications.
Previously, the Geely Constellation had completed phased deployment through multiple Long March 3B launches. On August 9, 2025, the Long March 3B rocket successfully launched the Geely Constellation 04 group of satellites in the Rizhao sea area, and the launch of the 06 group of satellites marks the “final battle” of the first phase project. With the number of satellites in orbit reaching 64, the constellation has the capability to provide global services and will expand to high-precision positioning, inter-satellite laser communication, and other value-added services in the future.

New Heights in Commercial Space: From “Single Satellite Customization” to “Constellation Mass Production”
The success of this mission reflects the deep integration of China’s commercial aerospace industry chain. From rocket manufacturing to satellite operation, from launch services to ground applications, a collaborative innovation model across the entire chain has begun to take shape. Taking the Long March 3B as an example, its total assembly testing base is located at the Dongfang Aerospace Port in Haiyang, Shandong, shortening the launch preparation cycle to 3 days through a “front store, back factory” model, while the Geely Constellation adopts a “unified platform, mass production” approach, compressing the single satellite development cycle to 18 months.
In fact, the successful completion of the first phase of the Geely Constellation network truly proves to the market that private enterprises not only have the strength to participate in the aerospace industry but can also inject new vitality into the commercialization of Chinese aerospace with innovative models and efficient productivity.
