At this moment, on September 16, 2025, at 7:20 AM, I am already sitting in the Eastern Airlines waiting area at Xi’an Xianyang Airport, having finished a bowl of noodles from Eastern Airlines, and starting “Sensor Discussions (147)” with an hour and a half left until boarding.

Staying in Xi’an and rushing to Xianyang Airport for an early flight is a rather awkward timing. If I wake up late, I will definitely hit the peak traffic and risk missing the flight; if I wake up too early, there are fewer cars on the road, and I will have to wait longer at the airport. Fortunately, with today’s convenient communication, the airport environment is also pleasant, and I won’t waste the extra time; waiting is also a process of learning and writing.

At 6 AM, on the way to the airport, I saw tall buildings outside the car window, with only a few windows lit up, and the streets were filled with running taxis, ride-hailing cars, and sanitation workers. I thought about how most people were still asleep in their sweet dreams, and I couldn’t help but recite a line of poetry:
How many lights are on in ten thousand homes?
But I couldn’t think of a rhyming second line to express the hardworking early risers. Friends are welcome to provide the second line.
Today, I am heading to Tianjin to attend an annual meeting of the National Federation of Industry and Commerce’s Internet of Things Committee and a symposium with the government of Hexi District, Tianjin, which was scheduled last week. However, today might be the day when our Xi’an Zhongxing Measurement and Control Company receives the most guests this year, and it might also be the day I should not leave the company, but integrity is still the most important, so I must go.

Firstly, last Thursday, the administrative department suddenly notified that 11 examiners from the National Intellectual Property Administration would come to the company for a whole day of discussions to understand our company’s intellectual property strategy and issues in patent applications. This is also an opportunity for us to learn how to apply for patents. As Zhongxing Measurement and Control is an internship base for national intellectual property examiners in Xi’an High-tech Zone, we should cooperate.

Secondly, the Australian guests who were originally scheduled to visit on Monday have suddenly changed their itinerary to visit the company today, which is also a very promising client among our many Australian customers, mainly for our pressure sensors and liquid level sensors.

Thirdly, yesterday, our sales engineer Zhao suddenly informed me that a client from India who purchased our wireless smart manhole cover sensor would visit the company today. Last night at midnight, he had already picked the client up at the hotel in Xi’an High-tech Zone. I was quite puzzled because I had just sent him the invitation letter for entering China last week. It was surprising how efficient the Chinese embassy is and how tight the Indian client’s schedule is.
Sometimes I often feel that when I am in the company, there seem to be not many things that require my personal attention, but once I leave the company, there are many things that need my attention. I believe that my colleagues in the company will definitely receive the guests from Beijing, India, and Australia in an orderly manner, and I also believe that big orders are coming.

On flight MU6923, the announcement states that due to air route control, there will be a delay of one hour, and we can only stay in the cabin. It really is a case of getting up early and arriving late. I still don’t know if I can make it to the meeting in Tianjin this afternoon.
Just now, while scrolling through WeChat in the cabin, I suddenly came across this news.
Xirenma United Measurement and Control (Quanzhou) Co., Ltd. announced bankruptcy liquidation, which is explosive news in the sensor circle, enough to shock many people in China’s MEMS sensor industry. Quanzhou Xirenma Company is quite a famous enterprise in China’s MEMS sensor field and has been recognized twice by certain authoritative institutions as one of the “Top 10 MEMS Enterprises in China.” In recent years, it has raised over 1 billion yuan in multiple rounds of financing. Regardless of the reason, for those of us in the sensor industry, most people may feel both shocked and regretful. #2025.09.16.09:22 MU6923 Xi’an/Tianjin# I visited Quanzhou Xirenma Company in 2019, and Chairman Nie showed me around the company’s workshop and exhibition hall. Chairman Nie was also full of confidence and ambition to make a big impact. At that time, my intuitive feeling was that their sensor products were diverse, and applications were flourishing. In the following years, we also had multiple contacts, and General Nie, as a founder with a technical background, had his own thoughts in the MEMS field. It felt like they could make many MEMS sensors, and sensors could be applied in many areas. Now reflecting on it, is it a common problem in our sensor industry? Sensors seem simple, but they are actually a “delicate task”. A simple sensor can be made, which is the first level; being able to make it reliable is the second level; being able to commercialize it is the highest level, which is the true demand and goal of a company.
Due to the flight delay, I arrived at Tianjin Airport at noon, rushed to the hotel to check in, and hurriedly had lunch, just in time for the 1:30 PM exchange seminar between the National Federation of Industry and Commerce’s Internet of Things Committee and the Tianjin Hexi District government. During the exchange with Tianjin’s Executive Vice Mayor and Hexi District Secretary Wang Xu, I deeply felt Secretary Wang’s honesty, straightforwardness, and simplicity in招商工作, demonstrating a unique high efficiency.
During the exchange, Mr. Fan from Beijing Chip Vision Technology Company introduced a multi-parameter water environment sensor based on their company’s quantum dots, which left a deep impression. It is said that quantum dots are currently the smallest light points, and by analyzing the scattering of light and establishing corresponding models, they are embedded into MCU chips. Based on this, a small-sized multi-parameter water sensor is built to analyze water pollution conditions, which has been promoted and applied in several major cities in China.
After the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Tianjin looks even more beautiful and has brought tremendous traffic to Tianjin. #2025.09.16.20:48 Tianjin Crystal Palace Hotel#
