On the afternoon of September 23, the first event of the “RISC-V Innovation Center Industry-Education Integration Exchange Meeting” hosted by the RISC-V Open Chip Industry Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Innovation Center”) was held at the Shishan Headquarters Economic Center Building 1. The Innovation Center invited representatives from Suzhou Vocational University (hereinafter referred to as “SVU”), Shanghai Saifang Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Saifang Technology”), and Zhuhai Yingsi Integrated Circuit Design Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yingsi Integrated”) to discuss the “Industry-Education Integration” topic face-to-face, bringing a “core speed” to this “slow work”.

Dean Deng Jianping of the School of Electronic Information Engineering at SVU stated that in recent years, SVU has attracted a number of high-quality teaching resources, the quality of enrolled students has significantly improved, and the scale of enrollment has continuously expanded. There is an urgent need to accelerate discipline construction, integrate practical training resources in the integrated circuit direction, and provide students with a more cost-effective training environment closely aligned with the needs of the Suzhou industry.

“SVU is exploring an innovative model for cultivating application-oriented talents in integrated circuits. We hope to collaborate with more enterprises to design teaching content based on actual industry needs and even introduce parts of the industrial chain to cultivate talents needed in a real industrial environment,” Dean Deng Jianping said.

Saifang Technology, in collaboration with Yingsi Integrated, presented their jointly developed integrated training solution for RISC-V:

  • Co-constructing a “Practical Curriculum”—the course design covers the entire process of IC chip design and application, systematically integrating teaching for core R&D positions.

  • Co-authoring “Living Textbooks”—enterprise engineers and on-campus teachers jointly guide and build an advanced RISC-V technology and course experiment platform.

  • Co-establishing a “Core” Base—building an industry-education training base to connect with the actual applications of the RISC-V industry, promoting the training of RISC-V talents in schools.

“In the current flourishing development of RISC-V, we hope to transform more extensive ‘industry-academia-research’ cooperation into practical nutrients for industry-education integration and talent cultivation by expanding a broader cooperation foundation and creating a benchmark innovative platform with lower costs, more open-source, and more concentrated RISC-V innovation resources,” summarized Chen Shi, a representative of the Innovation Center.

Finally, SVU invited the Innovation Center and enterprises to engage in deeper discussions regarding the construction of training bases and the design of training courses.

Introduction to Suzhou Vocational University

Suzhou Vocational University (formerly Suzhou City Vocational University) is a full-time undergraduate vocational institution established by the Suzhou Municipal Government and is included in the national second phase of the “Double High Plan” construction units. Founded in 1981, it is one of the first vocational universities in the country. The university is committed to cultivating high-skilled talents oriented towards high-end industries, actively aligning with Suzhou’s “1030” industrial system and “1840” service industry system, and vigorously developing professional groups in robotics, integrated circuits, new energy vehicles, artificial intelligence, and digital low-altitude fields; deepening industry-education integration and school-local cooperation, promoting deep alignment of talent cultivation with local industrial needs, and co-building 387 off-campus training bases, with three approved as national-level industry-education integration demonstration bases and the first batch of university student enterprise internship training bases in Jiangsu Province. The cooperation between schools and localities and the integration of industry and education are being deeply promoted in all aspects, fields, and processes, showing a vigorous development trend.
