Overview of 56 Domestic MCU Companies in China

In recent years, the development of domestic MCUs has entered an accelerated phase. From home appliances, industrial control to new energy vehicles, and smart hardware, almost all fields related to “intelligence” cannot be separated from the presence of MCUs.

In the past, we often relied on foreign manufacturers for core components, but now more and more local companies are filling the gap, not only forming a scale in the low-end market but also gradually entering mid-to-high-end applications.

This article will review domestic MCU companies. (In no particular order, if there are omissions, please feel free to supplement in the comments)

1. Zhongying Electronics

Zhongying Electronics Co., Ltd. specializes inMCUs, BMICs, and AMOLEDs, with its MCU microcontroller system mainly used in fields such as home appliance control.

MCUs include 8-bit 8051 architecture and 32-bit ARM architecture microcontroller chips.

2. CKS (Zhongke Chip)

CKS (Zhongke Chip) is a subsidiary of China Electronics Technology Group, possessing a complete industrial chain from chip design, manufacturing to packaging and testing.

• Main Products:Microcontrollers, security chips, FPGAs

• Application Fields:Information security, industrial control, automotive electronics, Internet of Things

3. Fudan Microelectronics

Fudan Microelectronics is a well-known integrated circuit design company in China, deeply engaged in high-reliability and automotive-grade MCU fields for many years, with its automotive-grade MCUs achieving tens of millions in shipments.

• Main Products:Automotive-grade MCUs, smart meter MCUs, general-purpose MCUs

• Application Fields:Automotive electronics, smart meters, smart locks, high-reliability markets

4. Zhongwei

Zhongwei is one of the earliest companies in China to independently develop and design MCUs, launching its first 8-bit MCU in 2005.

• Main Products:8-bit and 32-bit MCUs, SoCs, ASICs, and power devices

• Application Fields:Home appliances, consumer electronics, industrial control (including brushless motor control), and automotive electronics.

5. Neusoft Carrier

Neusoft Carrier is one of the earlier companies in China to conduct research on power line carrier communication technology, covering integrated circuit design and smart system applications, with its MCU products widely used in power systems.

• Main Products:Power line carrier communication chips, 8-bit/32-bit MCUs
• Application Fields:Consumer electronics, home appliances, industrial control, automotive electronics, instruments, personal care/medical, etc.

6. Silan Microelectronics

Silan Microelectronics is a leading IDM (Integrated Device Manufacturer) semiconductor company in China, having built a complete industrial chain from chip design to manufacturing and packaging, with MCUs being one of its important product lines.

• Main Products:8-bit/32-bit MCUs, intelligent power modules (IPM), IGBTs

• Application Fields:White goods, industrial control, automotive electronics

7. STC Microelectronics

STC Microelectronics focuses on the research, design, and sales of enhanced 8051 microcontrollers, being one of the first semiconductor companies in mainland China to defeat global MCU competitors, known as the “first brand of 8051 microcontrollers”.

• Established:1999

• Main Products:STC enhanced 8051 series microcontrollers, including the classic STC89/90/12 series, the main STC15/8 series, and the new STC32 series 32-bit microcontrollers

• Application Fields:Covering industrial control, consumer electronics, smart home, communication devices, automotive electronics peripherals, and more.

8. Guomian Technology

Guomian Technology focuses on high-performance, high-security MCU products, showing outstanding performance in industrial control and automotive electronics in recent years, launching high-end MCUs such as multi-core heterogeneous.

General-purpose MCU products based on ARM Cortex-M0 and M4 series cores have launched over 28 product series, with more than 200 product models, covering most application scenarios from low-end to high-end general-purpose 32-bit MCUs.

9. Rockchip

Rockchip focuses on high-end SoC chip design, with some of its products integrating MCU functions, having technical advantages in AIoT and smart hardware.

• Main Products:AIoT processors, embedded MPUs/MCUs, mainly AIoT SoC chips (such as RK3588), and self-developed core IPs such as NPU, ISP, etc.

10. Guoxin

Guoxin focuses on the research and industrial application of domestically controllable embedded CPU technology, having strong advantages in automotive electronics and information security MCU fields.

11. China Resources Microelectronics

China Resources Microelectronics is a semiconductor company with integrated operation capabilities across the entire industry chain, with its MCU products mainly targeting high-end applications in industrial control and automotive electronics.

• Application Fields:Industrial control, automotive electronics, new energy

12. GigaDevice

GigaDevice is a leading general-purpose MCU supplier in China, with the GD32 series as its core product, being the first ARM Cortex-M core general-purpose MCU brand in mainland China, with a wide product line, known as the “light of domestic MCUs”.

The GD32 series adopts ARM® Cortex®-M3, Cortex®-M4, Cortex®-M23, Cortex®-M33, Cortex®-M7, and RISC-V cores, with 63 product series and over 700 MCU products in mass production.

13. Allwinner Technology

Allwinner is a well-known intelligent application processor SoC design company, with some of its processor product lines integrating MCU functions or targeting the MCU upgrade market.

• Application Fields:Smart hardware, automotive electronics, industrial control, consumer electronics

14. Espressif Systems

Espressif Systems is a leader in the global IoT Wi-Fi MCU communication chip field, known for its strong open-source ecosystem and active global developer community.

• Main Products:Focusing on “connectivity + processing”, products includeIoT Wi-Fi/Bluetooth MCUs (such as the ESP32 series), and continuously expanding the AIoT chip product line.

15. Nuvoton Technology

Nuvoton Technology is dedicated to the research, design, and sales of integrated circuits, with its microcontroller product line holding an important market position in industrial control and automotive electronics.

16. Lingdong Microelectronics

Lingdong Microelectronics is a leading domestic supplier of general-purpose 32-bit MCU products and solutions, providing MM32 series MCUs based on ARM Cortex-M cores.

17. BYD

18. Hangzhou Zhongke Micro
