On October 23, 2025, during the sixth plenary session and standard seminar of the Commercial Display Standard Research Group of the National Audio, Video and Multimedia Systems and Equipment Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC 242), the group standard titled “Technical Specifications for Image Quality of Entertainment Vehicle Display Systems” was officially released. This standard was developed by the Shenzhen 8K Ultra HD Video Industry Cooperation Alliance, along with companies such as Visionox, Great Wall Motors, Guangzhou Liuhuan, and Saixi National Engineering. The standard fills a gap in the field of image quality standardization for in-vehicle entertainment display systems, helping companies optimize product performance, enhance product competitiveness, and promote the healthy and orderly development of the vehicle display industry, aiding China’s smart automotive industry in reaching a high-quality development stage.

With the advancement of automotive intelligence and electrification, in-vehicle screens have become the core interface for human-vehicle interaction, supporting multiple functions such as navigation, entertainment, and social interaction. However, in-vehicle display systems face complex and variable lighting environments, as well as specific safety and comfort requirements. Previously, there has been a lack of unified image quality testing methods and performance requirements in the industry, leading to inconsistent product performance, which affects user experience and healthy competition within the industry.
The “Technical Specifications for Image Quality of Entertainment Vehicle Display Systems” is the first technical standard in the automotive industry specifically addressing image quality. It sets comprehensive requirements for in-vehicle display systems from multiple dimensions, including ambient light management, multi-scene modes, and hardware quality. The standard covers 23 key image quality parameters, including peak brightness, contrast, color gamut, and color accuracy, and clarifies the functional, interface, image quality requirements, and testing methods for in-vehicle entertainment systems using LCD and OLED technologies (applicable to front row, rear row, ceiling, etc.), establishing a scientific evaluation system for in-vehicle display image quality.

This standard was jointly developed by over twenty leading industry enterprises and research institutions, including Visionox, Great Wall Motors, Guangzhou Liuhuan, Saixi National Engineering, BOE, China FAW, GAC Group, iFlytek, Lenovo, and Hisense. It embodies a broad consensus and technical accumulation from both upstream and downstream of the industry chain, ensuring the standard’s advancement, applicability, and wide representation. The implementation of this standard provides a unified and scientific evaluation system for vehicle manufacturers, component suppliers, and testing institutions, effectively enhancing the visual clarity and comfort of in-vehicle displays, thereby reducing the probability of traffic accidents caused by visual fatigue or information misreading, and providing important guarantees for driving safety.
The Commercial Display Standard Research Group, in collaboration with the SUCA Alliance, actively organizes various industry parties to carry out technical accumulation and market practices in the fields of commercial display and human-computer interaction, extending multi-scene image quality evaluation and interaction capabilities to the automotive field. Looking to the future, we will fully leverage the platform role of the Commercial Display Standard Research Group to promote the standardization and innovation process in the subfields of commercial display, solidifying the foundation for China’s intelligent manufacturing in global market competition.
