How to Play with AI Hardware? AI Toys for Children

Hello everyone, good evening! Welcome to my new channel – How to Play with AI Hardware.

So why has this channel come into existence? On one hand, I have been in the smart hardware industry for 8 years, and on the other hand, I am also using AI and starting a business with AI. Therefore, when these two topics come together, there are many discussions we can have.

Now, what is a very popular industry? It is AI toys. From my rough estimate, there should be at least two to three hundred companies making this product, including one of my partner clients who has also transitioned from traditional locks to AI toys. So what is the gameplay of these AI toys? Recently, we communicated with Mr. Wei from Weilian and Mr. Xu from Jingxun about the implementation in this area. There are actually three directions here:

The first direction is aimed at children, the second direction is aimed at adults, and the third is aimed at the elderly.

First, let’s talk about the children. Children can actually be divided into two segments.

The first segment is the educational segment, which is essentially what? It is where parents pay for it. The other type is the play type, which is for children who want to play, and thus parents pay for it. So the initiative is different, and this difference in initiative brings two issues: if it is for education, then it must have very good content to make parents willing to pay.

The other direction is play. For play, it must involve familiar toy characters or some IP images that children know well, which means there must be a very strong IP involved.

In these two areas, from two dimensions, first, both dimensions are not simple directions. The first dimension is that educational content is controlled, and the IP rights are also controlled. This is the first dimension. The second dimension is that both segments are mature segments. These two segments will not allow the overall business scale to become very large; in a certain sense, it is still limited to the scope of educational content and IP. Therefore, the market is still not very large; it is just that it has transitioned from traditional non-smart products to smart products.
