Deepening Sino-African Vocational Education Cooperation: Empowering Uganda with Embedded Technology

On November 24, Yantai Automotive Engineering Vocational College held the opening ceremony for the “Uganda Industrial Skills Training and Production Center ‘Embedded Systems’ Vocational Skills Training Project” in the fourth conference room, officially launching the college’s training project in Uganda. Vice President Wang Shijiang, Director of the Academic Affairs Office Zhao Yutian, Director of the Electronic Engineering Department Chen Xiaobao, and representatives of Chinese teachers, along with Ugandan student representatives, attended the ceremony, which was hosted by the Director of the International Exchange Center, Lü Changwei.

This project is an important initiative under the framework of the Sino-African Vocational Education Alliance, implementing China’s vocational education “going out” strategy and serving the “Belt and Road” initiative. The Uganda Industrial Skills Training and Production Center is a major economic and technical cooperation project funded by the Chinese government, covering a total area of approximately 16,000 square meters and featuring five modern manufacturing workshops, serving as an important base for cultivating industrial technical talent in Uganda. Yantai Automotive Engineering Vocational College, leveraging its professional advantages in the field of electronic information, is responsible for the training in “Embedded Systems.” The training focuses on industry frontiers, covering core modules such as embedded systems and artificial intelligence integration, security protection, network communication, programming of various development boards, and automation robotics technology, emphasizing the combination of theory and practice to systematically enhance the professional skills of Ugandan technicians.

During the opening ceremony, Vice President Wang Shijiang stated that the college will fully leverage its professional advantages, select outstanding faculty, and meticulously organize teaching to ensure training quality. He hopes that through this training, not only advanced technology will be imparted, but also cultural exchanges between China and Uganda will be promoted, allowing students to achieve success in China and enjoy their lives. Chen Xiaobao, Director of the Electronic Engineering Department, promised to provide the highest quality teaching resources and practical conditions to help students master core technologies. Ugandan student representative Mr. Bashir expressed gratitude for the college’s thoughtful arrangements and looked forward to contributing to Uganda’s industrial development after completing their studies.

The successful launch of this project marks a substantial step forward for the college in international cooperation and technical assistance to Africa, demonstrating the college’s proactive role in serving the national foreign cooperation agenda and injecting new vitality into deepening Sino-African vocational education cooperation. The college will take this cooperation as a new starting point to continue promoting the internationalization of vocational education and contribute “Yantai Power” to Sino-African friendly cooperation.
