Compilation of Legal Provisions Related to Cultural Relics Protection Law (Part 10) 2026-05-19 Provincial-level Cultural Relics Administrative Departments Article 9, Paragraph 2 (Excerpt): The cultural relics administrative departments of local people’s governments at or above the county level shall supervise and manage the protection of cultural relics within their administrative regions. Article 14: The people’s governments at or above the county level and their cultural relics administrative departments shall strengthen the census and special investigations of cultural relics, comprehensively grasp the resources and protection status of cultural relics. The cultural relics administrative departments at or above the county level shall strengthen the dynamic management of state-owned cultural relics resources and assets, and timely report the management status of state-owned cultural relics resources assets in accordance with national regulations. Article 21: The cultural relics administrative departments or relevant departments of the people’s governments at or above the county level shall publicly disclose information on complaint and reporting methods, and promptly handle complaints and reports related to cultural relics protection. Article 26, Paragraph 1 (Excerpt): The protection scope and record files of national key cultural relics protection units shall be filed with the cultural relics administrative department of the State Council by the cultural relics administrative departments of provincial, autonomous region, and municipality governments. Paragraph 3: The cultural relics administrative departments of local people’s governments at or above the county level shall formulate specific protection measures for cultural relics protection units and unclassified immovable cultural relics according to the protection needs of different cultural relics, report to the people’s government at the same level, and announce implementation. Paragraph 4: The cultural relics administrative departments shall guide and encourage grassroots self-governing organizations, volunteers, etc., to participate in the protection of immovable cultural relics. Article 27, Paragraph 1: The people’s governments at all levels shall formulate relevant plans, and based on the needs of cultural relics protection, shall agree in advance with relevant departments and cultural relics administrative departments on the protection measures for immovable cultural relics within their administrative regions, and include them in the plans. Paragraph 2: The cultural relics administrative departments of local people’s governments at or above the county level shall organize the preparation of protection plans for immovable cultural relics within their administrative regions according to the needs of cultural relics protection, and publish them after approval by the people’s government at the same level, and report to the cultural relics administrative department of the higher-level people’s government for filing; the protection plans for national key cultural relics protection units shall be published after approval by the provincial, autonomous region, and municipality governments and reported to the cultural relics administrative department of the State Council for filing. Cultural Relics Knowledge Popularization Understanding Bronze Ware in One Image Currently, ancient bronze wares are generally classified into 12 categories based on their use: food vessels, wine vessels, water vessels, musical instruments, weapons, chariots and horse equipment, agricultural tools and implements, currency, seals, measuring instruments, bronze mirrors, and miscellaneous items. Common patterns used in bronze wares include: taotie patterns, kui dragon patterns, dragon patterns (crawling dragon patterns, coiled dragon patterns, double-bodied dragon patterns), jiao dragon patterns, snake patterns (coiled snake patterns, coiled insect patterns), bird patterns, phoenix patterns, wave patterns, and other bronze patterns.
