To promote innovative development in grassroots science popularization and better meet the diverse, multi-level, and growing science popularization needs of the youth, the Putuo District Science Association recently launched a “District-School Interaction” project, offering AI-themed science popularization courses in nine primary and secondary schools within the district. Targeting over 250 students, the courses aim to enhance scientific literacy among the youth, addressing the specific needs of students and the varying demands of schools by introducing a variety of distinctly themed AI science courses, thereby supporting the capacity building of schools in science popularization and continuously improving students’ information literacy and adaptability to an intelligent society.
Shanghai Caoyang High School: Development of Naked-eye 3D AI Courses and Supporting Resources
Based on the characteristic of “environmental literacy cultivation,” Shanghai Caoyang High School has established a naked-eye 3D virtual simulation laboratory and developed AI courses that support immersive learning of knowledge and skills related to the environment and artificial intelligence, fostering students’ comprehensive literacy.
During the activities, students from the preparatory, first-year, and second-year high school classes were the first to participate in the course learning. They entered the naked-eye 3D virtual simulation laboratory to engage in courses such as “Thousand-Mile Eye” remote observation practice, polar practice experience courses, and water source protection. Through various interactive methods such as location triggering, body posture, and AI dialogue, they interacted freely with virtual images, gaining an immersive experience. Students interested in artificial intelligence also delved into the “Green.AI Environmental Specialty Course,” learning to use AI technology to discover, analyze, and solve environmental issues.
Shanghai Ganquan Foreign Language High School: Space Debris Recovery Task Challenge
Focusing on the fundamentals of robotics technology and practical innovation, Shanghai Ganquan Foreign Language High School has launched a space debris recovery task challenge for first-year high school students. The course content covers three major modules: robot structure design, sensor principles, and programming control, analyzing technical application scenarios in conjunction with cutting-edge case studies such as industrial robotic arms and medical robots.
In class, students will learn to use hardware platforms like Arduino to implement basic functions such as obstacle avoidance and path planning through C programming, and work in groups to complete projects like smart cars and service robots. The course integrates interdisciplinary knowledge such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, fostering engineering thinking and teamwork skills through project-based learning, while also organizing practical robot competition drills to help students master the complete technical chain from design to implementation, laying a foundation for future studies in technology.
Shanghai Conservatory of Music Affiliated Anshi Experimental High School: AI Music New Realm – Integration of High School Music Literacy and Artificial Intelligence
At the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Affiliated Anshi Experimental High School, Professor Wang Guozhong from the Shanghai University of Engineering Science’s Artificial Intelligence Industry Research Institute was invited to give a lecture on the theme “High-Quality Development Requires High-Quality Talent.” Based on the school’s musical background, Professor Wang suggested exploring the integration of AIGC (AI-Generated Content) with music in an experiential environment, such as AI composition and music generation, and an introduction to AI-assisted music creation tools.
The course content ranges from an introduction to artificial intelligence to exploring AI, voice recognition and synthesis, and practical applications of block programming and facial recognition. The project mainly guides students in writing research papers, focusing on AIGC, with students actively participating and gaining substantial insights.
Shanghai Changzheng High School: AI Robot Programming Technology and Applications
Shanghai Changzheng High School offers a science popularization course titled “AI Robot Programming Technology and Applications,” utilizing a project-driven teaching model that aligns with the cognitive levels and interests of middle school students. The course includes segmented learning on communication technology, AI visual recognition, algorithms, and programming, combined with structural building, control programming, sensor applications, and practical content. The aim is to enhance students’ basic literacy in the field of artificial intelligence through hands-on practice and project-based learning, while also cultivating students’ patriotism and technical skills in line with the spirit of the Long March.
Shanghai Xinyang High School: Intelligent Tour Guide
The intelligent tour guide course at Shanghai Xinyang High School utilizes smart robotic cars as a platform, deeply integrating cutting-edge technologies such as autonomous navigation, voice interaction, and image recognition to create an immersive smart tour experience. Currently, the student project team has completed the hardware assembly of the smart car, basic program development, and multi-scenario testing. After debugging, the car has achieved precise point-to-point path planning and intelligent obstacle avoidance functions.
The project course adopts a “theory + practice” teaching model, helping students systematically master core skills in robot control, programming design, and artificial intelligence applications. The student team showcases interdisciplinary practical abilities through collaborative innovation. Meanwhile, the project group will continue to optimize the accuracy of the navigation system and enrich the content database for simulated tour scenarios to prepare for real-world applications.
Shanghai University of Technology Affiliated Putuo Experimental School: Shangli AI Dream Camp
The course primarily uses robots as carriers of artificial intelligence, focusing on the objectives of primary school robotics courses. It allows students to understand the basic knowledge of robot structure, assembly methods, and basic working principles, fostering interest in learning to use robots. Students will gain a preliminary understanding of the application of learned knowledge in daily life, learn graphical programming languages, write simple control programs to command robots to perform predetermined actions, and acquire knowledge and skills in assembling and maintaining simple robots. This helps students learn to think independently, analyze, compare, and summarize, and reach consensus through evaluation and communication with others, understanding that social needs drive technological development.
East China Normal University Fourth Affiliated High School: AI-Enabled Meteorological Engineer
To advance innovation in campus science education, East China Normal University Fourth Affiliated High School has successfully established an “AI Smart Weather Station” as part of its expanded club courses. The course relies on AI technology to collect real-time data on temperature, humidity, air pressure, and wind speed, allowing students to learn and analyze weather change trends, and display this information to teachers and students through a visualization platform. By participating in data monitoring and analysis, students enhance their scientific inquiry abilities and awareness of AI applications. This project integrates cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things and big data, becoming a practical platform for interdisciplinary teaching and laying a foundation for the sustainable cultivation of technology talents with an exploratory spirit.

By offering robotics programming courses, students at Shanghai Putuo District Guanlong New Village Primary School, guided by the core philosophy of “learning through play and creating through doing,” have developed their logical thinking, hands-on skills, and teamwork spirit through fun robot building and graphical programming.
The course adopts a step-by-step learning approach, starting from basic graphical entry, gradually introducing code comments, syntax rules, and more, cultivating the mindset of future developers. The course is project-driven, integrating real-life scenarios into tasks such as smart cars and sensing robots, stimulating interest in learning while also incorporating interdisciplinary knowledge such as mathematics and science, enhancing students’ overall literacy, and fostering communication and problem-solving collaborative inquiry skills through group tasks.
The Putuo District Science Association has provided diversified science popularization services for the youth through the implementation of the district-school interaction project, effectively promoting the improvement of youth’s awareness of technological innovation and their innovative capabilities. The project has also sown the seeds of scientific interest in the hearts of young people, allowing their curiosity, imagination, and knowledge to leap forward through exploration and practice.
