I am just like you, missing the college entrance exam by 2 points and fatefully being admitted to a computer science program in Python at a management school. However, I quickly realized that I disliked accounting, so I chose to study Python in finance, and I have been stuck in place for 4 years.
A few days ago, I took a gamble and switched my focus to applying for a master’s in data science or IT, hoping to brush up on my internship experience and jump into the internet industry with Python. Fortunately, I learned a bit during my undergraduate studies (even though I only studied Python and machine learning and worked on some very basic projects).
Now I am picking up Python again by taking online courses and practicing on LeetCode.
Looking at the past two years, I really don’t want to stay in management anymore; I feel that the future of Python is quite uncertain.
Graduating with a salary of 10,000, you might be too optimistic. Listen to the advice from above, try to cross majors for graduate school; the Python industry is not doing well. I am in this Python major, working overtime every day, and I get startled every time a supervisor calls.
I also initially disliked Python; who in pure science can accept studying a liberal arts major (unless it’s law or you truly love it and voluntarily chose Python)?
I suggest you find a 211 university that offers a protective first choice, switching to computer science or electronic information, or even control systems, as in the end, you will have to switch to coding anyway (the latter two generally have much less competition in Python).
Of course, if you can apply to a master’s program in Hong Kong, that’s fine too.
Initially, I thought about securing a recommendation for graduate school, so I didn’t prepare for the entrance exam, and now it’s too late to start.
