“I just had my wisdom teeth removed in the morning, and by the afternoon, my face was swollen and I had a low fever. I was really worried!” On September 4th, Ms. Zhou, who lives in the Xihe community, recalled the situation from a week ago, still vividly remembering how anxious she felt at the thought of waiting in line at the hospital. Just then, she suddenly remembered the community’s embedded health services. “I went there around four in the afternoon, and the doctor immediately examined me, diagnosing it as a postoperative infection, and arranged for anti-inflammatory IV treatment right away,” Ms. Zhou said with relief. “It’s less than a five-minute walk from home, and I could settle the payment directly with my health insurance. This kind of convenient service is really thoughtful!”

Ms. Zhou’s experience is a vivid illustration of the community’s embedded services that benefit the public. The community has conducted in-depth research on residents’ needs and innovatively adopted a construction model that combines “complexes” and “scattered” services. They scientifically planned the layout of service functions, concentrating core functions such as elderly care, cultural leisure, and sports fitness within a comprehensive service complex, while embedding health services and children’s recreation in various neighborhoods, forming a service network that is “one-stop with multiple points and complementary functions,” allowing residents to enjoy comprehensive services within walking distance.

Nearly seventy-year-old Grandpa Li is a loyal fan of the community’s embedded sports and fitness services: “In the past, if I wanted to play ball, I had to take the bus to another place. Now there’s a ping pong table right downstairs, and my old buddies can come over for a couple of games.” Grandpa Li said with a smile, wiping the sweat from his forehead. Behind him, several sky-blue tables are neatly arranged, with the sounds of paddles hitting the ball, sneakers squeaking, and laughter intertwining.

By combining the “complex + scattered” model, the Xihe community has not only achieved efficient integration of service resources but has also successfully built a comprehensive and multi-layered service system, allowing convenient services to truly integrate into residents’ daily lives. Moving forward, the Beilin District will continue to promote the construction of community embedded service facilities, enhancing the facility network, optimizing functional configurations, and improving operational management, using “small facilities” to support “big livelihoods” and leveraging “micro-embedding” to drive “great happiness.”
