Academician You Zheng’s Team from Tsinghua University Proposes New Laser Radar Technology

Recently, Academician You Zheng’s research group from the Department of Precision Instruments at Tsinghua University proposed a dual-mode laser radar system based on hybrid cascaded translational metasurfaces. This system utilizes geometric phase and propagation phase metasurfaces for cascaded control, flexibly switching between high-precision beam scanning mode and efficient flash illumination mode by modulating the polarization state of light, adapting to the three-dimensional perception needs in different scenarios. Combined with adaptive three-dimensional detection solutions, it can dynamically adjust detection modes and resolutions, successfully bridging the technical limitations of traditional single-scan and flash laser radars, providing new pathways for efficient, compact, and more environmentally adaptive three-dimensional perception.
