Case Review
The Cyber Security Department of Linping District in Hangzhou discovered that a key internet company’s server was attacked by hackers, and customer information was stolen, resulting in direct economic losses exceeding 500,000 yuan.
Hangzhou Linping Cyber Security immediately conducted an investigation and analysis, identifying acriminal group led by a person named Gu, who wrote Python scripts to scrape customer data from the victim company and used this data to promote and attract customers for prostitution groups through phone calls and SMS.

Detailed Process
It is understood that Gu and another accomplice were born after 2000 and were sentenced to 10 months for aiding and abetting crime, released after serving their sentence in 2022.
One day, Gu felt that the business was slow in generating income and heard rumors that someone wasillegally obtaining website membership data to attract customers to offline stores, thinking this was a quick way to make money.
After discussion, the two hit it off. In early February of this year, they posted a recruitment advertisement online, looking for a web scraping expert.
At this time, another protagonist appeared—Shi, born in 1993, who worked in a small company as a live streaming operator, but due to low wages, he was always considering doing some part-time work. He hadself-studied Python online and, seeing Gu’s recruitment advertisement, contacted him with the mindset of giving it a try.
Gu provided Shi with some company URLs, and Shi successfully attacked two websites, obtaining some membership information.
The two formed two call teams, using this membership information to promote and attract customers for prostitution groups, hoping to carve out a “new world.”
However, just as they thought they were getting closer to their wealth dreams, they were already being monitored by our cyber police.
The Hangzhou Cyber Security Department organized a concentrated operation to capture three suspects, including Shi (all of whom have been criminally detained), and seized 3 mobile phones and 2 computers on site. The case is currently under further investigation.

Hacker attacks can easily lead to the leakage of personal information of citizens, which can then be used by some malicious criminals for precise fraud and other illegal activities.
Individual users should avoid logging into unknown websites when using the internet and computer systems, back up important data in a timely manner, regularly conduct security scans on computers, and patch vulnerabilities; correctly use firewalls to block hacker attack channels; regularly download system patches to upgrade and patch computer systems, effectively preventing hacker intrusions.
Enterprise users, when building websites and deploying other internet projects, should implement access control, intrusion detection technology, and security scanning, strive to use software systems with better security, and update and upgrade them in a timely manner, and where conditions permit, hire professionals for network security management.
