New Camera Aggregator Bridge Reference Design
Connect multiple image sensors to the application processor, minimizing latency
Lattice has launched the first series of reference designs for video bridging applications using CrossLink⢠FPGA. This MIPI CSI-2 camera aggregator bridge reference design provides customers with a template that integrates all necessary IP and software, making it easy to add video bridging solutions based on CrossLink to applications using multiple image sensors, such as autonomous driving and automotive ADAS, drones, and AR/VR headsets. With CrossLink, customers can integrate multiple video signals into a single I/O port, thereby reducing device size and power consumption.

Many applications in automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics fields utilize multiple images, radar/ LiDAR sensors, and other ToF sensors to collect data about the environment around the device. All these sensors need to be connected to the device’s application processor ( AP), but the number of I/O ports available for connection is often very limited. Lattice’s CrossLink MIPI bridge FPGA supports MIPI CSI-2 virtual channels, allowing different sensor data sources to be merged into a single channel, thus integrating signals from multiple compatible MIPI CSI-2 sensors into a single CSI-2 output. For applications requiring low power and small size, such as AR/VR headsets and drones, CrossLink is undoubtedly the ideal video bridging solution, and it can also be used for video bridging in smart cars, reducing wiring and costs within the vehicle.
