AMR products heavily rely on sensor accuracy and computational performance for real-time object detection to achieve full robotic autonomy. The AFE-R360 features a 3.5-inch SBC, supporting up to 8 MIPI-CSI channels for low-latency visible light camera input, along with 3 LAN and 3 USB-C ports for depth and LiDAR sensors. With Advantech’s custom-designed camera I/O card (MIOe-MIPI and collaboration with Innodisk’s drivers), the AFE-R360 can simultaneously support 4 MIPI-CSI cameras, enabling 360° panoramic view streaming.
Additionally, the AFE-R360 is built on the Intel® Core™ Ultra (code-named: Meteor Lake-H/U) platform. It features a 16-core processor and Arc™ graphics, being the first processor integrated with NPU, capable of delivering up to 32 TOPs of computing power. With Intel® Core™ Ultra and the OpenVINO™ toolkit, the AFE-R360 is ideal for running object detection AI models, processing immersive graphics, and achieving an optimal balance of power consumption and performance. These features make it an ideal choice for AMR development.
“Innodisk places great importance on the potential of visual recognition in edge applications for smart manufacturing and retail. This collaboration with Advantech provides an unparalleled worry-free experience, lowering the barrier to the use of computer vision in AMR systems, and promoting efficient adoption of AI technology by enterprises.” — Johnny Wu, Director of Smart Peripheral Devices at Innodisk.
Innodisk supports major models on the AFE-R360, including EV2M-GOM1 (fisheye camera), offering adjustable ultra-wide views with de-warping technology, and EV2M-OOM1 (global shutter camera), designed for high-speed dynamic scenes, capable of capturing fast-moving objects or production lines in smart factories. Both models can achieve high customization for driver development, image quality optimization, FOV customization, and size design. Additionally, the built-in image signal processor (ISP) ensures detail visual effects, meeting the high resolution and frame rate requirements of various edge AI applications.
“Advantech is honored to collaborate with Innodisk to optimize our existing AFE-R360 solution with their advanced MIPI camera modules. This partnership enhances AI object recognition for AMR, improving efficiency in smart factories, warehouses, and retail environments. We are paving the way for the next generation of smart edge applications together.” — James Wang, Director of Embedded Applications at Advantech.
Advantech has a clear AMR development roadmap in dedicated product design, software packages, and partner alliance strategies. These solutions provide a seamless integrated experience for precise robotic automation control. The Advantech AFE-R360 product is set to be launched by August 2024.
